Holiday Movies

It took a bout with the flu to finally catch-up on a few of my favorite holiday movies. ย The holiday movie tradition began with a sentimental favorite from childhood,ย Miracle on 34th Street dsc_6772bstarring Maureen O’Hara and Edmund Gwenn, and over the course of a lifetime the holiday movie list continues to expand. ย Many of these films,ย Love Actually, Die Hard, Serendipity, White Christmas, The Fitzgerald Family Christmas, Silver Linings Playbook,ย Love The Coopers, The Ref, The Family Stone,ย Home Alone and It’s a Wonderful Life,ย willย make an appearance on the television at some point in December every year. ย During this time of year another movie tradition occurs, but one that has been met with much less success. ย As the first award nominations make an appearance for the best films of the year, a list is composed of the films nominated for best picture, best actor and best actress and an attempt is made to watch all of these films by the Oscars ceremony in February. ย I have never managed to complete this task, but will try again. ย So far this year I have only managed to see two of the movies nominated on the early award lists (Hell or High Water and Manchester by the Sea),ย but hopefully La La Land will be added to this list this week inย the midst of enjoying last-minute Christmas shopping.

  3. Great list of movies! Die Hard every year, along with It’s a Wonderful Life – it’s going to be playing at a movie house later this week, very excited as I’ve never seen it on the big screen.
Loved Hell or High Water, and if you liked that, you might like Nocturnal Animals. Saw it today, very good.
    Hope you’re feeling better!

    1. Thank you and I’m feeling better. Die Hard and Love Actually are always the first two watched and that will be great seeing It’s a Wonderful Life on the big screen. So far based on the award lists, Hell or High Water is my Oscar favorite, but maybe some of the other films will surprise me.
