Can There Be A Silver Lining To Having A Cold?

After taking this photo and asking myself midweek if there could be a silver lining to having a cold, the answer was a resounding no.  Now that my head no longer feels on the verge of explosion, I was able to find a couple of silver linings and distractions in the few shots taken during the week.

One silver lining, as winter made a reappearance this week, was the thought that I wasn’t missing any nice weather and I should be feeling better by spring.

Sprouting lilies provided hope that spring is on its way.

Finally was able to watch who was wiping out the new bird feeder.  The squirrels showed no shame and were fighting over the best seat.

Don’t buy the look of innocence on this little guy, at one point he was sitting in the middle of the bird feeder.

Had extra time to watch the adorable chickadees and catch up on some shows.  One of the things I love about TV shows nowadays is the great music soundtracks and being introduced to musicians and songs I’ve failed to hear on the radio.

  1. Fantastic post, ACI — filled with signs of spring, earthly beauties, and wonderful music. With this kind of environment, it seems to me you’ll be over that cold very soon. I especially liked Maren Morris’s song, we were just “talking” about that! I give you a hallelujah!

    1. Thank you and I’m delighted you enjoyed the photos and music! I am starting to feel better and the birds and squirrels are very busy keeping me entertained today. The Maren Morris song was my favorite out of the group and I thought a great anthem for turning up the dial!

  3. Just a note to let you know how much I enjoy your blog. The photographs are beautiful, and the comments that accompany them fit perfectly. Sorry about the cold, and I sympathize… my wife’s going through a nasty one, so I’m sure to catch it soon. I hope the silver linings continue. Cheers!

    1. Thank you for your wonderful comment! I have not had a cold this bad in years, but thankfully my cold and attitude have improved tremendously today. I hope your wife starts feeling better soon and that you manage to miss catching a cold!

      1. You’re welcome, and thank you. So far so good. We just got over the flu early last month, so it was a double whammy for her. One day at a time… 🙂

      2. I also began winter with a horrible flu and now ended it with a bad cold. Let’s hope that this makes us immune for at least the next ten years!

  4. We have shaky internet out here, but I will check out the tunes when we get home.
Loved the photographs and commentary. You have very challenging squirrels – just as well they’re cute…
Well done for even trying to find a silver lining for a cold. I just complain. Lots.

    1. Thank you and it was an effort to find a silver lining, but the camera and squirrels helped improve my mood. I’m not sure if the freezing cold outdoors helped the situation, but I was starting to experience photography withdrawal.

  5. I am so glad you are recovering. There have been some very nasty viruses around this winter. Spring is such a delightful season. 😊

    1. I’ve always enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels at the bird feeder and I think they are both enjoying the addition of peanuts to the birdseed!

      1. That is true, peanuts have so much energy. We have also a feeding station and we love to watch them, and our cat has a TV-window.
