Put Another Dime In The Jukebox

Another 80s flashback to a song I’ve always loved by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musicians, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. Β I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll was originally recorded by the British group The Arrows in 1975, but was brought to fame by Joan Jett’s recording of this song in 1981 and it reaching the top of the charts for weeks in 1982. Β I was originally hoping for a cool photo of an old jukebox for this song, but they are difficult to find nowadays and I was having a hard time convincing anyone to go on a dive bar crawl to find one. Β After a week of still feeling exhausted from all the Super Bowl excitement and shoveling snow every day, it seemed like a perfect time for a little indoor photography. Β Nothing like a cold, snowy February day spent indoors looking for a 1981 or 1982 dime in the coin jar for the great lyrics “put another dime in the jukebox.”

On a different musical note in case you find yourself indoors on this cold, snowy February day, tonight on Showtime the documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 BarsΒ in being shown.Β

I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll – Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

Did I mention it was cold and snowy and only February???

  1. I was a big fan of that song, too! Oh, the good old days. As always, lovely pictures of birds. In Maine, February means winter is only half-way over. Therefore, we must not be waiting too anxiously for spring. Not yet. πŸ˜‰

    1. Thank you and I love whenever I hear the song on the radio!πŸ™‚ It’s still snowing and we have many snowy days left, but I’m excited that after tomorrow we should be done shoveling snow for at least a week.😁

  2. Oh ya – I remember that video from when MTV first started televising. MTV was pivotal in my youth for introducing me to modern (at the time) music, fashion, musicians, and lots of stuff I probably didn’t need to see. I remember this video, and looking back on it now, is pretty cutting edge really. Joan Jett was ahead of her time. Great post – trip down memory lane.

    1. Thank you!πŸ™‚ I often just include the music without a video, but when I looked for the song I instantly remembered watching this video back in the day and had to include the video. After reading your comment I was trying to remember when MTV first aired and it was on August 1, 1981. Many of the those early videos I watched remain favorite songs today.πŸ™‚

  4. Cool (literally) snowy pictures. Yeah I remember that song, the Joan Jett version. Didn’t someone like Britney Spears attempt it in more recent years :-/

    1. Thank you and Britney Spears did a version in 2002, but I don’t think it was playing on my radio station that year.😁
