After a few snowstorms last week, there were signs of hope on Friday when things began to melt
and by Saturday morning many of lakes were celebrating freedom from the ice.
This brief celebration came to a halt Sunday morning when the icy fingers of winter
made its return and wearing gloves, a hat and scarf would have been a good idea.
The red-winged blackbirds were happy to be back and singing a greeting to everyone,
the geese were wondering when they would ever feel grass on their feet again and
this sandhill crane was giving me a look of disbelief because I had failed to mention that not all of the lakes are ice-free.
It’s still a little too early to sit on a bench by the lake
or have to worry about being hit in the head with a baseball.
Thankfully March Madness begins this week with the 2018 Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament and will keep me busy until the snow hopefully melts by Opening Day.
