The Week In Seven Photos

It has been an extremely quiet week at home while Gabby tries to recuperate. ย We are often dealing with her stomach illnesses, but this week she decided to double up on her recent stomach illness with a severeย infection in her paw. ย Most of the week she could be found resting in her favorite position with her new Minion baby socks.

Once she began to show little signs of improvement, there were walks around the yard carrying her and my camera. ย Finally she was well enough for the stroller and we could explore the yard and admire the neighbors flowers.

All signs of winter have disappeared and the woods surrounding our home have turned a beautiful shade of green after those long bare months.

I’ve discovered Gabby loves to travel around the yard in her stroller and the squirrels still scatter when they see her coming.

On a good day we were actually able to add a few flowers to theย bicycleย containers under her supervision.

We were able to spend some time on the deck and finally by midweek you could hear the wonderful sound of her barking after the silence. ย I’m pretty sure that the squirrels, deer and birds had not missed the barking.

My mother always told us while growing up to make a wish whenever we saw a cardinal. ย Gabby needed extra get well wishes this week and I’m hoping this cardinal that landed near us, which is extremely rare, was delivering good news that our wishes were heard.

  3. Poor Gabby, she sounds like she’s had it rough, but glad to hear she’s on the road to recovery.

Love your bike planter, beautiful. And so is the Cardinal, a wonderful visit at the right time! Good news for sure! We grew up with the saying, “When a Cardinal appears, an Angel is near.” When I see one, I always think of my Mom and say hi to her. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ She has never been this ill and Iโ€™m so relieved she is starting to feel better. She actually looked like she wanted to jump out of the stroller today and walk, but Iโ€™m not sure when she will actually be ready for walking.๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, gosh! Read this post with tears in my eyes. Nothing like the sound of a barking dog buddy to perk you up. Lovely thought about wishing on a cardinal. May the wish come true!

    1. Today has been her best day and thankfully I have seen many cardinals to wish on this week.๐Ÿ™‚ Sheโ€™s still not barking enough for me or doing many of normal shenanigans, but a little bit of her attitude returned today.๐Ÿ˜

So glad to hear! May she continue to feel better. Our own dog buddy is very sick. I’ll be writing about it today on my blog. Sigh.

The switch from grey to green has been most welcome this year, after a long winter. Colour at last!

It was a relief to see a little bit of her attitude return today and Iโ€™m hoping sheโ€™s finally on her way to feeling better. I love the colors of May and they all seem a little brighter this afternoon after a good day with Gabby.๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ I have been worried nonstop about Gabby and I was so relieved to see a little of her spunk return today. Gabby is not a fan of the socks, but Iโ€™m hoping I can convince her to continue wearing them after she can walk.๐Ÿ˜

    1. Her energy has not returned and I think our adventures will be on hold for awhile, but over the last two days a little bit more of her wonderful personality and sassy attitude has returned.๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Oh, so sad to hear Gabby’s been sick, ACI. She looks like she’s recuperating well, and very content in her stroller on the way to health. I liked your mother’s cardinal sentiments, and I’m sure this one so close was bringing good wishes to you both. It is a spectacular photo and when I first saw it I gasped…stunning. Best wishes to you both, ACI, may the spring continue to unfurl its beauties on you….
