The Little Beast

It has been over a month now and Gabby is still stroller bound fighting a foot infection. ย I’m beginning to think she is enjoying all of this extra attention and thinks that as long as she wears her Minion sock she can continue to go shopping and be carried everywhere. ย After informing the vet that Gabby has managed to find a way to nibble on her toes through her sock and three different dog cones, he said to make sure I keep an eye on the little beast.

While shopping we spotted this great Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville chair, but Gabby reminded me that there is no extra money in the budget this month because of the vet bills.

I wanted to show Gabby some of the old-time arcade games, but she let me know she preferred watching the fish.

We have a vet appointment today and I’m hoping we are a little closer to recovery and if she receives a good report, there may be a celebration with a jumbo margarita in the near future.

  1. It sounds like both of you have made the best out of this difficult situation, ACI. Fun photos and narrative…I’m smiling as I type.

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™ve discovered if I take her to any of our normal spots, she tries to break out of the stroller because she believes she should be exploring and walking. Thankfully I have also discovered that she appears totally content to be in the stroller when we go shopping or to new parks. Hopefully next week we will be checking out a new park that has a wildlife drive.๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ There was a little improvement and they are trying a new antibiotic. Hopefully she reacts ok to the medication and we will be continuing our exploring with Minion socks and the stroller.๐Ÿ™‚

Yes! Gabby looks grand. I hope that jumbo margarita is in your future. As for vet bills—sigh. They were very high for Liam. The old buddy was worth every penny, but wow. Anyway, best to darling Gabby. Of course she doesn’t want that sock on her foot.

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ It appears the healing is going very slowly and they are trying new medication. There will be a few more weeks of Minion socks and the stroller. The vet bills continue to add up, but I think I have enough money for a jumbo margarita.๐Ÿ˜

You will have earned it! I know from personal experience how those vet bills add up. Phew!

  4. Here’s hoping you’re celebrating her full recovery – and free from vet bills – very soon, and enjoying a giant margarita! You must get lots of questions and looks out and about with Gabby in her stroller!

    1. I will be enjoying that jumbo margarita, but it might be at a restaurant with an outdoor patio that allows dogs. I might have to skip dessert since there is no end to the vet bills. Gabby will be in the stroller for a few more weeks while she continues to heal. It is very difficult to call her little beast when everyone is walking by saying how cute she is in the stroller. The best reaction is from little kids and it always makes me smile.๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ She is safe from witches, Iโ€™m keeping an extremely close eye on her so she leaves those toes alone.๐Ÿ˜

    2. I was thinking she looks like Toto, too.

      1. She has been called Toto when we go for bike rides. Last night when we went out for ice cream she was told she looked like a little lion for the first time.๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I have never seen such a sight – A sweet faced dog in a zippered up stroller. No wonder kids are enchanted. If I saw you ion a store, I would have to walk up to you and say, “I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight unless I hear your story.”

Hoping the new meds make a big difference.

    1. Thank you so much!๐Ÿ™‚ I told our wonderful vet that I was going to make a standing weekly appointment for Gabby now that she has turned into such a troublemaker. As an introvert it would take many, many get togethers over a cup of coffee to tell our story, but Gabbyโ€™s an extrovert and would love to talk about it.๐Ÿ™‚
