The Week In Seven Photos

We’re halfway through summer and this week I felt like I needed some extra rest in order to make it through the second half. ย I think the slight exhaustion has caused me to feel a little out of sorts and there have been days that I had the strange feeling I was trespassing in my own life. ย

Gabby had her first walk this week after her foot injury and for her sake I told her the next curve in the path was a little to far for her.

My fatigue is probably because of the heat and humidity this summer, but it could possibly be related to my diet and I’m not getting enough protein in between the snacks and wine.

I thought about a balanced diet, but a day of quiet reflection was just what the doctor ordered and so much more enjoyable.

Maybe the lack of energy is from deer fly fatigue. ย All I could think of when I saw this flower was that I wish I had a frozen snowball to throw at the next deer fly that tries to get stuck in my hair.

Some of the flowers and I are at a wilting point, but a week of temperatures in the 70s may rejuvenate us.

ย I would have loved a close-up of this egret, but that would have required exerting energy by going out in the kayak.

  1. You mentioned a bad word, a deer fly. We will have them in August. I know how annoying it is when they attack and when you find them in your hair and clothes in the evening. I think your diet is perfect in this weather.

    1. The deer flies show up here in June and by this point in the summer I have a major attitude against them and have developed quite the deer fly dance. As I walk Gabby I can be seen with my arms swinging around my head as I quickly shake my hair. Gabby wishes I would stop all the commotion since it never works and one always ends up in my hair.๐Ÿ˜

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ To battle this lethargy, I may need to balance my diet with more caffeine that requires extended mornings on the deck with extra cups of coffee.๐Ÿ˜

Wonderful photos, as always. Between the heat, the humidity, and national news, my energy is zapped, too. I expect this is true for many of us. Onward, ho!

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ Between the high humidity and morning news, Iโ€™ve had a slow start many mornings this summer and usually being outdoors early in the morning during the summer is a favorite. Thankfully a slight cold front moved through yesterday and I could actually go out this morning without being attacked by deer flies.๐Ÿ˜

May the deer flies be otherwise occupied!

  5. I hope the temperatures become more agreeable – then the deer fly dance is less exhausting. I think a bowl of hickory smoked almonds (protein) and a glass of something liquid (cooling) will set you right, fatigue-wise, by sundown.
    Have a good weekend!

    1. A cold front moved through yesterday, but Iโ€™m too tired to complain that it wasnโ€™t cold enough!๐Ÿ˜ Thankfully it was cold enough this morning for the deer flies to stay away and Gabby could dawdle in peace without me dancing around her. Iโ€™m trying to decide what wine would be perfect with Almond M&Mโ€™s๐Ÿ˜ Enjoy your weekend!๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Awesome pix! I know what you mean about the lethargy. Too hot to do more than rest with ones feet in the cool water. Glad to read Gabby is back on all fours!

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™m really hoping for a burst of energy with a few days of cooler temperatures and Gabby is thrilled to be out of the stroller and wandering around.๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Phew it sounds hot! After our heatwave here in Britain, things have cooled to what they were, but still nice weather ๐Ÿ™‚ We are having the best, most consistent summer for years but I’ve heard many have had major heatwaves.

    1. It has been a strange summer and another heat wave will arrive this weekend. I keep trying a weather attitude adjustment, but so far nothing is working.๐Ÿ™‚
