Summer Guest

The summer days are dwindling and I have not had a chance to share photos of our summer guest.

Unlike my favorite fawns that I hope never leave, I have actually thought (ok, maybe hoped) he would move on at some point.

He’s very sensitive to any noise and difficult to photograph, but throughout the day he can be found by the bird feeders

or wandering up and down the driveway.

Several times I have found him hanging out behind the truck and wondered what in the world he was up to now.

It was not until this last weekend that I discovered that he thought he had found a friend.

He was so fascinated with the encounter that he failed to notice my movement near the window for once.

It has been very strange watching him trot around the yard every day this summer, but after his lengthy dance with his reflection,Β

I am finally convinced that he fits in perfectly around here.

    1. Thank you!😁 Last night was the first time he did not make a quick exit when Gabby and I were out in the yard and I think this quirky bird knew that he finally won me over with his wonderful antics.😁

  3. As long as the truck is clean, he’ll never be lonely…What does Gabby think of him?!

    1. He’s very happy to hang out in the yard with the birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer, and his reflection, but so far he has not sent a friend request to Gabby. Thankfully Gabby is unable to see the bird feeder area from her favorite spot in the house, but she has scared him a few times when he goes by the deck.😁

    1. Thank you!πŸ™‚ I laughed throughout his wonderful encounter and it was so funny to not only see his reactions to his reflection, but to watch him duck, sneak a look and be surprised every time.😁

  4. This reminds me very much of the house where I grew up and the turkey that used to come up to our back sliding door which was glass. He would see his reflection and peck at it. It was so loud it often woke me up in the morning! Better than an alarm clock haha.

    1. That’s too funny and luckily our dog with her barking would make sure he never knocks on our door. We were not too concerned about the bumper, but we were a little concerned about the paint when he proceeded to peck at his reflection around the whole truck.😁

  6. That is so funny. Brilliantly captured. What fun it must be round at your house with all those visitors. What will you do if the turkey is still around near Thanksgiving?

    1. Thank you!πŸ™‚ I have to admit that for some of the visitors, like the turkey and bat, it took a little longer to appreciate their presence. The turkey is now a favorite along with the fawns.😁 I’m still trying to adjust to the bat flying above me every night when I take Gabby outside. I wonder how long the turkey will stay and there will be extra treats for everyone during the holidays.😁
