The Week In Seven Photos

There were signs of spring everywhere this week with the arrival of the red-winged blackbirds and fabulous blue skies. Β How can gray be a favorite fashion and decorating color, but so disliked as a winter color palette by the beginning of March?

The animals were feeling frisky due to the warmer temperatures and there was time for one last game of hockey on the pond

and a king of the hill match. Β My childhood tomboy competitiveness emerged as soon as this little guy challenged me on the hill,Β

but since I’m middle-aged now and have enough problems just walking on snow and ice on flat surfaces, I was happy with only a photo.

My favorite ducks were basking in the sunshine

along the shores of the river with the sounds of the cardinals, blackbirds and ducks filling the air.

The robins quietly enjoyed the sounds of the birds chatter and the flowing river,

while I enjoyed the beautiful sights and visitors at the park and wonderful thoughts of spring.Β

  1. Great observation about March and gray. I think that for those of us who live in a cold, northern climate, we are more than ready for spring by the time March rolls around. Hooray for warmth, robins, and red-winged blackbirds!

    1. Thank you!πŸ™‚ I was so excited about the blue skies and weather that I was ready to get out the deck furniture. I could have sat outside today in the rain and snow showers.😁

  3. It must be spring by now? No nasty late winter sting before real spring?! What have I gone and said and done…

    1. Mother Nature must have heard you and decided we should have some wonderful snow mixed in with our rain today! A glass of wine at home may be needed, since the roads are too slippery for an outing to a pub!β„οΈβ˜”οΈπŸ·πŸ˜

    1. Our weather is still changing every day from gray to blue mixed with rain and snow, but it actually sounds like it will look and feel like spring next weekend.πŸ™‚

  7. I delighted in your week’s photos and musings, ACI. You brought a smile to my face (“enough problems just walking on snow and ice”), and I so enjoyed seeing the birds that are declaring the warm weather. Truly lovely post.

    1. Thank you!πŸ™‚ It’s been wonderful to see the new arrivals and I’m hoping I have a chance to go to the park this weekend to see how many herons and cranes have arrived. I had to include that comment about walking, since I almost slipped on the ice just prior to taking the photo of the duck.😁
