The Week In Seven Photos

I’ve had to think often about the great Jimmy Buffett lyrics “if we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane” this week.  So, on a lighter note during these frightening times, my husband and I have been retired together for many years and one of the main ingredients to spending so much time together is that my very extrovert baby boomer husband and I have always had separate interests to break up all the togetherness.  Between all this togetherness and no sports this week, somehow we may not be appreciating the humor of one another.  He recently commented that he’s more concerned about falling ill from my very non-nutritious food choices now that I’m in charge of the grocery shopping and I let him know that it’s ok by me if he wants to spend more time talking to his shadow while we’re out walking in our six foot bubble.

Well, let’s just say that trapping an extreme extrovert that loves his freedom and socializing in my quiet little corner of the world all day has already been noticed.  The addition to the house would already be under construction if the stock market hadn’t tanked.

Interestingly, he raised Gabby alone the first years of her life while I was still working and she was also a very talkative extrovert, while poor little Harper is being raised by me and is very quiet and loving the six foot social distancing.

Like I predicted, the parks are already packed with walkers, bikers and joggers (this photo was taken on a very cold day just before everything closed down) and

pretty soon we’re going to need turnstiles on the docks to make sure there are only ten people enjoying the sparkles on the water.

There is plenty of extra time to enjoy the birds and the bees and I’ve already seen reports for the younger generations about a baby boom in December, which could mean that our already scary world could be even scarier with a large surplus of Sagittarius babies (just a little horoscope humor).

Hopefully you found one or two things to laugh about this week and were able to enjoy the outdoors for a few moments.

    Haha, I think a good sense of humour is going to go a long way in the next few weeks (months?)! I’m currently overnighting in a noisy motel, as I head back to the big city to be with Mrs PC full time until this all blows over. We’ve never been apart more than a few weeks at a stretch over the past thirty plus years. Our city apartment is small, so with Scout, it’ll be interesting. Not sure there’s space for indoor social distancing! Harper and Scout will keep us sane, and provide a perfect reason to have to head outside.
    Relatively trivial, I know, but isn’t a world without sport less colourful?

      Thank you!🙂 I already have the floor plans ready for the addition and a small apartment would probably work for us, as long as we could rent two next to each other.😁 I’m very, very slowly adjusting to a very dim life without sports and as I find myself very slowly adjusting to all the change and worry, I’m having a difficult time adjusting to the unknown of how long we’ll be doing this. I’m hoping this is our last cold weekend and I can get the kayak out next week. I have a feeling the lakes, along with the parks, are going to be crowded this year. Take care in the city and I hope Scout doesn’t ask for her own apartment.😁

    Love the bee photo and the humor. We’ve been going a little stir crazy, too. Too much of a good thing isn’t as wonderful as Mae West said. 😉 I’m wondering how many wives will be murdering their husbands (and vice versa) before the lockdown ends. 😉 Although to be fair, mine went off to do early ‘senior’ shopping today, so maybe your extrovert could do the same? 😀

      😁Thank you!😁 Our stores have been adding the early senior hours this week, but since I love my quiet early mornings and coffee, I’m not encouraging him to wake up early😁 Wonder if there will be a spike in a babies and divorces next year?😁 After this week I’m going to try to change to grocery pickup and delivery. While I’m taking all the precautions, I’m in a constant state of worry that I could encounter the virus and not be able to take care of my mom. Take care and let’s hope we can soon be outdoors in our yards enjoying warmer weather and spring.🙂

    Beautiful, beautiful picture of the bee(?) on the flower. As for too much togetherness…many couples are in your situation. Actually, my husband and I are. But we’re both introverts so it works pretty well. Most of the day, he is at his desk, and I am at mine. At night we come together. Spousal distancing? 😉 Stay sane, stay safe, be well. And keep taking pictures!

      Thank you!😁 Yes, social and spousal distancing are essential right now for everyone’s safety and sanity.😁 I think it will improve everyone’s attitude when the weather improves and we can try to relax outdoors on the deck (thankfully, we have a deck on the front and back of the house when spousal distancing is necessary😁).     I love the first picture with the shadow especially, and brilliance on water is always a favourite. Opposites often seem to attract with introvert/extrovert relationships. Me and my husband are very different and he would definitely prefer someone more outgoing and less socially anxious. I wonder how many relationships are going to be strained after weeks of being cooped up together.

      Thank you!🙂 Every day they seem to mention a new random date of how long they expect this to last and I really wonder how much relationships and society will change during this time. We took Harper to the park for a walk today and I’ve never seen (at a safe distance) or heard that many people at the park. I think I may need to get my bike out and leave Harper and my husband at home.😁
