My love of photography, cinema and peaceful walks were brought together this week when I had the chance to wander through a few of the 20 beautiful gardens that surround the Cranbrook House, capture photos using the cinematic feature on the Hipstamatic app and later in the day enjoy another “horticultural escape” through the beautiful gardens in the documentary The Gardener. The gardens are cared for by Cranbrook House and Gardens Auxiliary members, who were busy caring for the lovely flowers throughout the morning, and the Sunken Garden and Japanese Garden have been my favorites over the years. It was a wonderful early morning with temperatures in the 60s and plenty of space to wander peacefully surrounded by the songs of the Baltimore orioles and the distant hum of conversations and laughing children.
