The Week In Seven Photos

With the general feeling for the week best described by the following photo, I wasn’t sure how I was going to come up with any humorous insights or highlights for the week.

With all the major issues in our country causing mental and physical fatigue, it almost feels like any new problem orΒ unpleasant topic could just send me round the bend.

I’ve spent a lifetime helping my mother search through her purse every time she thought see lost a credit card (always finding it somewhere in the purse), so you might be able to imagineΒ my crazy hour of panic (hoping nobody was watching) when a missing credit card was not in my purse. Β It was finally found and I’m going to blame all these insane pandemic months ofΒ reorganizing on the fact that I have no memory ofΒ organizing my wallet and finding a safe place for rarely used credit cards.Β

During these social distancing days my “stay out of my bubble” attitude has strengthened tremendously, so once again you may be able to picture the shock of not knowing someone was standing right behind me until he scared the bejesus out of me asking for my cartΒ when I finished unloading the groceries, which, of course, caused me to jump and drop my case of pop in a mud puddle with cans rolling everywhere.

There was a chance between rain showers for a walk with Harper, but between the fatigue and my glasses fogging I’m not really sure how much I appreciated the scenery. Β Although, I am seeing new things on every walk as Harper stops to exploreΒ more often and I wonder how I missed the trout bench arms all these years.Β

Harper thought we should we take a seat and relax a moment to appreciate the fall colors

and remember a few things we liked about the week. Β The exceptional documentary The Way I See ItΒ about Pete Souza who was the official WhiteΒ House photographer for a portion of Ronald Reagan’s time in office and during the entire Obama administration was exactly what I needed to snap me out of my funk (it’s being shown again this Saturday night on MSNBC). Β Another highlight for someone who has never recovered from Hillary Clinton not being president was Bette Midler’s role in the filmΒ Coastal ElitesΒ and the good movie week wrapped up with The Trial of the Chicago 7,Β David Byrne’s America UtopiaΒ and Harper feeling the vibes of the Talking HeadsΒ (click on the movie titles and Talking Heads for great trailers and a favorite song).

  1. Those Fall colours are gorgeous, must say Harpers coat matches the colours well.
    Enjoy your weekend ☘️

    1. Thank you!πŸΎπŸ™‚ Harper must enjoy blending with nature because she certainly dislikes staying on the sidewalks and prefers making sure her hoodie and paws are always muddy.🐾🐾 Enjoy the weekend!πŸ™‚

  2. Ah – So frightening when you suddenly can’t find something that has ‘moved’ in your purse! And when someone sneaks up on you for your trolley! We’ve got so used to people keeping their distance that it is unsettling when they stand too close. I had that today at the checkout counter at the supermarket – the woman behind me started piling her groceries on the belt right next to mine – even though lines are clearly placed on the floor for everyone to keep their 2m distance. I guess people are beginning to tire of these strict regulations!
Lovely to see Harper out and about and what an unusual ‘fish’ bench! πŸ˜€

    1. Thank you!πŸΎπŸ™‚ Harper has finally hit the age where she enjoys exploring the paths as long as she is able to choose the park. He was as surprised as me when the pop cans went flying and I haven’t been shopping lately and after that exhausting trip to the grocery store I’m going back to curbside grocery pickup. We’re already back to shelves being empty, it felt like everything I needed was either on the back of the top shelf or back of the bottom shelf, properly wearing masks are still an issue and this year with constantly worrying about all the new protocols I’m always afraid I’m going to leave my credit card in the machine and that was before the lost credit card panic. After this week it’s obvious at this point that I need a vacation from myself.😁

  3. Fabulous fall colours! Hopefully, you’re hanging in there until Nov 3, and then we all learn life will be a little better starting in January…
We’re off grid most of the weekend, but expect to return home and see Everton top, and Mourinho laughing and dancing. Is either of those very likely?!
    Have a good weekend!

    1. Thank you!πŸ™‚ Just when I should be going off the grid so I don’t lose my mind over the next 12 days, I’ve somehow decided to watch more news than ever and my tension and worry level is increasing with every new Trump sign in the neighborhood. Big Ten football returns this weekend so I’m hoping that will be a distraction along with a few movies and documentaries. In all this chaos, I can’t seem to remember who Mourinho coaches.😁 Enjoy the weekend!πŸ™‚

  4. I am with you all the way. In this country, not only is the pandemic weighing us down—will it really be nearly two years before I can see my children again?—but the crazy politics and the election make everything worse. We hope things will take a turn for the better in November, but there is no certainty about this. Hugs from the Hinterlands of Maine.

    1. Thank you!πŸ™‚ It struck me so strongly again after watching The Way I See It at how much the last four years, the election and this pandemic has taken a toll on our country. I almost had forgotten what character and empathy looked like on a daily basis in leadership and I can’t believe when we are seeing record daily coronavirus cases of 80,000 that he could begin a presidential debate dismissing the seriousness of this pandemic and the so many different ways that individuals and families are being affected. I’ve never felt this way before an election and it’s going to be a very tense 12 days. Take care!πŸ™‚

      1. Oh, gosh! You bet! A real nail-biter of an election. So much at stake, and there are too many dum-dums in this country.

  5. What beautiful photos. Have a great weekend. I’m sure you and Harper can find something on Netflix to watch – but not too scary! And you could (not Harper) have a glass of wine and just chill.

  6. You always choose the perfect photos to go with your musings. Everyone’s seven days are so different and odd these in these peculiar times. Stay safe over there.

    1. Thank you!πŸ™‚ It was one of those weeks where it felt like going forward days will always be odd and different and that feeling was before I just received the breaking news that we set a record today in our country with 80,000 new coronavirus cases and our state is now averaging 1,800 new cases every day. I don’t know how far I’ll be wandering, so you may begin to see many turkey photos since they have returned early.

    1. Thank you!😁 After this week I think the grocery stores should adopt park path etiquette where everyone is pleasant as they walk by one another and, like those bikes that always sneak up on you, those lurking behind should always announce β€œon your left” from a safe distance because I don’t know how many more shocks I can take this year. Enjoy the weekend!😁
