The Week In Seven Photos

I’ve been known to develop obsessions and lately it appears they are sheet pan dinners (NYT Cooking – Sausage With Peppers & Tomatoes),

memoirs and owls. I would love to be able to share a photo of the owl and owlets I’ve been trying to find for weeks, but all I can share is some of the trees they may be hiding within.

I’ve been looking high

and low for my favorite bird

while someone has appeared very bored with all my stopping and looking,

I was very lucky to see another family out wandering around and,

after tracking the sound of an unknown bird, to watch a green heron for only the second time. Seeing the green heron and the fact that I’ve now been bird watching long enough to recognize the sound of a new bird was almost as exciting as if I had found the owls.

  1. Fantastic finds! 😀
Yes, you should feel proud for recognising a different bird sound.
I hear the little sunbirds, but seldom see them – but at least I know it is them! 😀
As for owls, I have never seen the Cape Eagle Owl, though do hear him/her in the middle of the night sometimes.
Good luck finally spotting your owls; I’m sure you will. 🙂

    1. Thank you!😁 I’ll keep looking and I’m a dreamer that always looks at the old bare trees with the perfect perch believing that one day my favorite bird will land and surprise me with a perfect visit.😁

  3. What an adorable picture of the chipmunk! To paraphrase a friend, chipmunks might be plentiful but they are never common.

  5. Wonderful bird shots and very funny bored dog shot! I think someone believes she should be the main focus…
Have a great weekend – finally, this very poor Premier League season will be over, and Everton and Spurs both look to be ending on a low – even if they both win! Will Kane sign for Everton?! Nope, that would be sideways or even downward.

    1. Thank you!🐾😁 Harper’s a perfect bird watching buddy, but her attitude and enthusiasm worsens with every stop. So far, it appears we can’t talk about the Premier League, the Maple Leafs and Harry Kane, but you can tell me anything you know about Roma since with Mourinho they’ll be my new team next year. Enjoy the weekend!😁

  7. It often happens when we’re looking for something we find something else. Maybe the owls weren’t meant to be found but the heron was.
