The Week In Seven Photos

It was wonderful to be out walking on the trails again this week after a herniated disc in my lower back a month ago.

As someone trying to avoid surgery, one of the things I learned while recovering when this happened three years ago was the absolute importance to keep moving and walking as much as the pain and numbness allowed. This was the first walk back at the park and the first without my Nikon camera in years. I wasn’t sure how I was going to cope with the walk and only my iPhone, but other than some numbness the rest of the day and pouting about not having my Nikon when a hawk was playing hide-and-seek in the woods, it was absolutely wonderful.

The cranes were nice enough to pose close to the road, but

there was no way I was getting close enough to capture the bees enjoying these flowers.

I found myself enjoying different aspects of the park and shots,

beautiful skies and

many favorites that were kind enough to come very close to the trails.

  1. Oh my goodness, a herniated disc. Excruciating. I have a disc that bulges & agree gentle movement is crucial. I now have very gentle (yoga based) stretches I use to help improve my back flexibility & health. Thankfully seeing an osteopath has ensured it gradually pops back in, but can take a while. Hope your back improves greatly over the coming days.

    1. Thank you!🙂 It’s been improving the last two weeks, but I still have to be extremely careful how I move and bend and then try not to panic all day when the numbness worsens if I move wrong. Thankfully I love going for walks and so far that’s been going better than expected.🙂

      1. I can imagine. And can completely relate. Bending and twisting are the worst offenders for me. Sadly due to health I can’t go for walks (miss it terribly), but the stretching definitely helps. Really good to hear you’re on the mend. Beautiful photos as ever. Have a lovely weekend.🌳

  3. I don’t know what it is about this year…but I’ve seen several of those little guys like the one in the last shot around our area more than usual. My iPhone is my camera, as I haven’t picked up an actual camera in ages. 🙂

    1. I’ve always carried my iPhone, but it’s going to take awhile to adjust to a different style of photography without my Nikon and favorite wildlife lens.🙂

  4. I hope your back or other feels better soon. My back can go out at any time and it’s incredibly painful. The trail looks so peaceful.❤️

    1. Thank you!🙂 Still moving cautiously and avoiding carrying a camera that might temp me to quickly move or bend to capture a shot.🙂

    1. Thank you!🙂 It always surprises me that I feel the best while walking and it’s so much more enjoyable walking on the trails than around the house constantly.🙂
