The Week In Seven Photos

Being a curious soul, I love discovering new things and thoughts, but this week I somehow felt more out of touch than curious. Itโ€™s been a few years since I wandered through a mall on a hot summer morning and somehow I missed hearing about the creation of a โ€œ6,000 square foot photography funhouseโ€ at the Detroit Selfie Museum.

Iโ€™ve been envious of the recent concert announcements in our area for Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton, but after reading about the Ticketmaster โ€œOfficial Platinumโ€ method of ticket buying (The Case Of The $5,000 Springsteen Tickets), Iโ€™ll continue to pass on concert tickets during these days of avoiding crowds and the fear that I could easily purchase an outrageously priced ticket in a moment of excitement. Thankfully I can afford to listen to all my favorites on the nature trails.

While I love to stay up-to-date on dessert trends like trying a Fruity Pebbles candy bar or adorable Bundtinis (just love that name),

Iโ€™m a little behind on fashion trends at the mall, including that some of my pop vending machines have been replaced with eyelash vending machines.

I often read about all the changes now taking place in offices across the country due to the pandemic and, honestly, thank god I can currently remain out of touch on the trails and miss out on Zoom meetings or trying to understand why there are Zoom โ€œcaves.โ€

Now, if I could find some cool time machine,

I might go back and tell my younger self to be more interested in the guys playing Dungeons & Dragons, because my middle age curiosity about TV trends has me thinking after watching Stranger Things that they were much more fun than I thought back in the day.

  2. The thing about the Springsteen tickets is I personally know of a couple people who would pay that amount if they could find some extra money in the sofa. Ok, maybe a LOT of extra money. The offices these days – I know of places where they’ve called folks back to work, but don’t want them gathered in a conference room, so they do Zoom or Teams from their desks…like they could still do from home. The Hellfire Club rules!

    1. Love the Hellfire Club and that I was able to see so many of my favorites in concerts over the years!!๐Ÿ™‚ My concert going days may be over for the big performances. Prices were getting out of control before the pandemic and many of them now only perform at our new stadiums that donโ€™t have a good concert vibe. Now, all that could change if I win the big lottery tonight.๐Ÿ˜

      1. Yes, concert settings just aren’t the same and those costs are insane. Good luck in the lottery tonight…I have a couple tickets I’ll be checking as well!

  3. An eyelash machine? that’s different! I wasn’t able to view the link about the tickets, but something seems very wrong, $5000 dollars? Not worth it!

    1. A return trip to the mall is needed, it was difficult to keep up with everything that was new. I thought ticket prices were out of control before the pandemic, but now prices are all over the place because of high demand. Still have a ticket stub for when I say Bruce in the 90s and paid $68.๐Ÿ™‚

      1. $68 bucks is a deal! I never saw him in concert, but saw Van Halen, Rush, ZZ Top, and The Who!!

      2. Missed out on Rush and The Who, but Van Halen and ZZ Top were fabulous in concert!!!๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿ˜Ž

      3. Oh hell yeah man! At the end of the Vanhalen concert, Michael Anthony tossed his sweat towel off the stage just before walking offstage. A guy and a girl both grabbed it, the guy put his fist up in the air – she let go. The Who were fantastic at the Silverdome in Pontiac which is now gone. I have more stories… ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿป

  5. Oooh….Bundtinis are the best! But aiming to eat just one is a futile endeavor!

    1. I loved the little Bundtinis and thankfully there was an assortment, because I would have been in serious trouble if they were all Strawberry & Cream.๐Ÿ˜

  6. Splendid words and photos! I absolutely did not dress and have hair like Eddie Munson, nor was I ever involved in Dungeons and Dragons, and it must have been someone who looked like me – er, I mean looked like Eddie – who bought the first two Dio albums and thought they were the best thing everโ€ฆ
Iโ€™m quite happy not knowing whatโ€™s going on fashion wise (not that I ever did – see above) but vending machines for eyelashes?! Huh?!
Back to the trails, with a baseball cap to cover the increasingly exposed real estate. Eddie never suffered that indignationโ€ฆ
    Have a good weekend!

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ˜ Iโ€™ve already let Harper know we will be listening to Dio in the car this weekend for the first time, since I missed out on them in the 80s (although, vaguely recall being a fan of Black Sabbath). We need a Hellfire Club Stranger Things prequel starring Eddie!! I love checking out the new fashions and adding to my Lululemon, hoodie and hat collection. Canโ€™t figure out why my niece isnโ€™t a fan of my new bucket hats, especially the tie-dye one. Enjoy the weekend!๐Ÿ˜

  8. You have been busy! Beautiful first picture. My husband and I played D & D back in the day. Now we are into cooperative board games, especially Gloomhaven.

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™ve always chosen books over games, but I might have to check out some of these games.๐Ÿ™‚

      1. The pandemic encouraged us to find some entertainment that did not involve being with a lot of people. Those board games fit the bill in such a fun, satisfying way.

  9. Never seen an eyelash vending machine before. That’s a bit weird. A Zoom cave would sound fun if it wasn’t dark and probably claustrophobic. I get all zoomed out with work meetings still, colleagues will know all the quirky stuff in my spare bedroom/office. No eyelash machines though.
