The Week In Seven Photos

Another reminder this week that summer is being very stubborn

and my severe case of fall vibes was a bit premature as we face another week of temps in the mid to upper 80s.

Harper and I began the summer trying to find a new way to do things after I herniated a disc in my lower back

and obviously I’ve run the poor dog ragged prior to this because she has really been embracing afternoon naps.

Due to my back, I’ve spent the summer using my iPhone as my main camera and while my bird photography has been forced to change,

I’ve loved the challenge of capturing moments in a new way.

If I can wake Harper from another nap, I’m sure there is a familiar favorite place that needs to be explored at a slower pace and viewed a little differently.

  1. Love the pictures. I can relate. Arthritis has slowed me down and taken away some of my mobility, as well as losing most of the vision in my right eye, so I’ve retired my camera, actually gifting it to my grandson. It’s all very humbling…but, I do my best to still find beauty even in and with my limitations..thank goodness for cameras in our phones! Have a great weekend!!

    1. Thank you!🐾🙂 Between the pandemic and two back injuries in three years my lifestyle has certainly changed. Where I was in a hurry to want to do many of the same things after the first injury, this time I’m concentrating on simplifying life even more than we have as we still live under many COVID rules to protect family members with health issues. I’m shocked that I haven’t missed my Nikon and how wonderful and easy it is to enjoy the iPhone. It’s wonderful to have you back blogging and writing, your words and photos have always spoke to me. Enjoy the weekend!🙂

      1. I do find that I miss my quiet morning soul strolls with my Nikon…but again, happy that I can still point and shoot 😊

Thank you for your kind words. I happy to be back and reconnecting with you and those I’ve lost touch with here in WP. It’s definitely helped to relight some of my spark.

        Enjoy your weekend as well!!!

  3. It was 54 degrees overnight here and Fall was definitely in the air this morning. Harper always steals the show when photos include her…but that bespectacled owl in b & w plaid (I think it’s an owl…) is totes adorbs also. 🦉

    1. Thank you!🐾🙂 We’ve had a few wonderful fall weather days and mornings and luckily this warm spell is arriving on the weekend when it’s a priority to be indoors watching football!🏈🙂

  4. Lovely photos, Harper is so cute! The upper 80s? That’s a very comfortable temperature. Sorry about your back, something we have in common because of my herniated lower lumbars. Keep your cane handy!

    1. Thank you and I’m looking forward to temps in the 60s next weekend!!🙂 I’m doing everything I can to avoid surgery and canes as long as I can and I’m trying to convince Harper we need the new purple iPhone 14. Enjoy the weekend!🐾🙂

      1. Wow, surgery is for me the absolute last option. I get around fine as long as the discs don’t go out as I call it. I hope you never need the surgery! iPhone 14 already? I just picked up the 12 last year!

      2. I’ll always choose every option over surgery, but it sounds like with the narrowing of my spine and pressure on the spinal cord and nerves that I may have to face that option in the future. I always try to wait to upgrade until it’s necessary and I can’t believe that no matter how many times I drop my phone it continues to work perfectly.🙂

  6. Definitely quite an unusual owl you managed to get a shot of there – owls can be so tricky, and this one looks very smart…
Harper has been very cooperative as you work back to full strength – getting her up to speed again looks to be a challenge!
Sounds like you’re about to experience proper fall temperatures from next week, so perhaps walks out and about might be a little brisker in pace, back allowing?!
    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you!🐾🙂 It’s going to be difficult to ever go back to searching for owls I never find in the woods after all the adorable ones I have found in the stores. I’ve been trying to convince Harper she would love to be a city dog walking on sidewalks and stopping for coffee, but she continues to vote for cruising with loud music and then a nap. Thank god cooler weather is on the way, I don’t know if I can continue with my heatwave hoodie phase. Enjoy the weekend!😎
