Thankful Thursday

I’m thankful for the fabulous gumbo and a taste of New Orleans in Metro Detroit at Bourbon Street Gumbo & Po’Boys (artwork: Jay Kopicki)…Eddie Murphy and enjoying the addition of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F in the great Beverly Hills Cop franchise…French and British tv crime drama series…Mika Brzezinski’s thoughts and comments on Morning Joe concerning the 2024 presidential election…the wonderful Tour de France stages in Italy…

  1. The new Beverly Hills Cop was good fun, best one since the first – Eddie Murphy has barely aged!

    1. The original Beverly Hills Cop is an all-time favorite and I loved that they brought back many of the main actors, music, themes and Eddie Murphy was as great as the first one. I thought he barely aged too until I rewatched the original after and thought I can’t believe it’s been 40 years!!😱 Cheers to the landslide victory!!🍻

  2. sorry for the northern Brit question again, but what is gumbo? I’ve heard of it but no idea what it is.

    1. The gumbo I love is a fabulous stew made with andouille and chicken served hot over cooked rice and I like it spicy. It’s the official state cuisine of Louisiana. I try it whenever I find it on a menu and after years of only having one favorite gumbo restaurant, it’s wonderful to have another.πŸ™‚

      1. Sounds very different to the plain ordinary stew we have here; meat, potatoes, veg and stock chucked in a pan and simmered for a while, sometimes with suet dumplings. I have never seen gumbo restaurants here, or seen it on any menus, but then, I don’t go out much.

    1. I always love seeing the wonderful scenery along with the race and it’s been great this year to have so many interesting stories and records throughout the early stages for the old and new riders.πŸ™‚
