Trivial Tuesday – Apple Season or Pumpkin Season?

I have no idea how many times I have mentioned pumpkin spice on this blog or how many pumpkin spice lattes I’ve enjoyed or how many Halloween pumpkin decorations I’ve shared, but surprisingly on this Trivial Tuesday I’m going to take a moment to calm down the pumpkin craze by saying that I’ve always viewed fall as apple season and not pumpkin season. One of my all-time favorite fall rituals is going to the cider mill for cinnamon sugar donuts and apple cider and I’ve always preferred apple pie over pumpkin pie and I’ve been enjoying Blake’s Hard Cider for more years than Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Now, even though I haven’t forgotten it’s apple season, my niece sharing her horror movie expertise over the last few years has definitely influenced my enjoyment of spooky season and somehow during that time I’ve been brainwashed by the pumpkin spice craze.

    Yes to apples! I like pumpkin pie, but I love apple pie. And don’t forget apple crisp, another favorite.

      I’m already planning my visit to the cider mill and need to add some apples and caramel dip to the donut and cider order. Your apple crisp comment made me think of the baked apple pudding made by my grandmother and mother while growing up and now I need to find the recipe.🙂

    The evolution of life! 😉 Although the harvest of apples and pumpkins occurs concurrently, I think of Sept. as apple season and Oct/Nov. as pumpkin season. We always went apple picking in Sept. but never went pumpkin picking!

      I was actually very surprised how much I’ve been brainwashed by the pumpkin spice craze while writing this post.😁 There will definitely be some apples, caramel dip, cider and donuts in this house by the end of the week.😁

    Pumpkins are – mostly – for decorating, and apples are for eating (or drinking!)
    Spooky movies? Watched “The Black Phone” recently, very effective, helped by the 70s setting and good performances.

      The pumpkin coffee gods must have been listening to my thoughts, because of this post I ordered a Starbucks Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and before I could even enjoy a few sips my niece’s puppy knocked it off the table by grabbing the napkin under it. The Black Phone is in my movie library thanks to my niece’s recommendation and knowing how much I love any movie with the ‘70s and ‘80s vibe.🙂

    I’ll take that Pumpkin pie slice off your hands. I like apples but, not cooked. Even as a child, I could not stand applesauce. I am reminded of my dad’s saying about jello…”It’s too thin to chew & too thick to swallow.” I feel the same about applesauce. Right now, I am enjoying the Ginger Gold apples. They aren’t around all the time like Red Delicious or Galas.

    Haha, it’s a bit like Bugs and Elmer – duck season, wabbit season. Maybe a time to revisit old acquaintances and make friends with apples again.

    I only use pumpkins for decorating. They are not widely available fresh in the UK only in October, I prefer apples to eat. I have apple and blackberry crumbles I made in my freezer right now.
