MSU’s NCAA March Madness Ends in Final Four Semifinals

It was another great NCAA March Madness run by the Michigan State Spartans, but it came to an end tonight when they lost to Duke 81-61 in their worst tournament loss in school history.  The Spartans started the game strong scoring 14 points (5-7) in the first 3 1/2 minutes, but then they proceeded to shoot 3 of 20 from the field and trailed at halftime 36-25.  Duke went on a 20-9 run in the last ten minutes of the first half and MSU only shot 29.6% in the first half.  Duke finished the game shooting 52% with three players, Jahlil Okafor, Quinn Cook and Justise Winslow, in double figures.  MSU finished the game shooting 40% and their team leaders, Travis Trice, Denzel Valentine, and Branden Dawson, also scored in double figures.  Unfortunately, Coach Izzo’s March magic disappeared this April night and the team that emerged from halftime failed to have a 2nd half surge similar to previous tournament games and were never able to match Duke’s intensity.

There were not many MSU highlights tonight, but Gabby had a few highlights since she became the winner of our little 2015 NCAA March Madness pool and she loved the Buick “Woof” Dog Commercial.
