September Skies by The Brian Setzer Orchestra
My initial plan was to think of nine ways to enjoy September since it is the ninth month of the year, but due to September being my favorite month of the year and my excitement that it finally arrived, I thought I would try to discover thirty ways to enjoy the wonderful month of September. I will completely understand if you quit after nine, but I hope you stay around for all thirty and please let me know what other enjoyable things I failed to mention. 1) Go to the movies to see the film adaptation of Bill Bryson’s great book, A Walk in the Woods, starring Robert Redford, Nick Nolte, and Emma Thompson opening September 2nd; 2) Watch Jim Harbaugh’s first game as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines football team on September 3rd when Michigan plays Utah; 3) Order pizza and watch a lot of college football games during the opening weekend of the NCAA College Football Season (September 3-7); 4) Wear matching hoodies with my Yorkie, Gabby, when Notre Dame opens their season against Texas on September 5th; 5) Watch the Big Ten and Preseason #1 team, Ohio State, play Virginia Tech on September 7th; 6) Enjoy a Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Latte on September 8th; 7) Pick-up a loaf of pumpkin dessert bread from Papa Joe’s to enjoy with the pumpkin spice latte; 8) Watch the fantastic television series, Longmire, returning September 11th on Netflix; 9) Curl up with a blanket and a good book when Lee Child’s latest Jack Reacher novel, Make Me, is released on September 8th; 10) Watch the premieres of Fall television shows (in particular, Scorpion and NCIS Los Angeles on September 21st and NCIS and NCIS New Orleans on September 22nd; 11) Enjoy Main Streets decorated for fall; 12) Attend a fall festival; 13) Attend the Michigan Renaissance Festival’s theme weekend, Shamrocks & Shenanigans; 14) Plan an Up North Fall Color Tour and a round of golf; 15) Fall Bicycle Ride (https://cimple.life/2014/11/26/sunday-morning-bicycle-ride-in-the-fall/) 16) Enjoy the golden skies and crisp air of a fall sunrise while kayaking; 17) Watch Michigan State’s first big test of the season when they play Oregon on September 12th (Gabby already has her game face on); 18) Cinnamon sugar donuts and warm cider; 19) Carmel apple hard cider at Blake’s Hard Cider Co.; 20) Trip to the movies to see Robert De Niro’s new film with Anne Hathaway, The Intern, on September 25th; 21) Window shopping for new fall fashions and lunch at the Cheesecake Factory; 22) Watching the NFL football season opener on September 10th when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the New England Patriots (will Brady be playing?); 23) Bowl of soup with a warm French baguette; 24) Watch NFL Sunday Ticket and the Denver Broncos opener on September 13th against the Baltimore Ravens; 25) Walking Lake Michigan beaches without the crowds; 26) Shopping in Lake Michigan coastal towns without the crowds; 27) Wearing my favorite jeans, hoodies, flannel and boots; 28) Hoping the month of September is Bryce Harper’s favorite month and that he hits the Washington Nationals back into first place in the NL East; 29) Say goodbye to the great television series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, with the two-hour series finale on September 27th (I vote against a Grissom and Sara reunion); 30) Give thanks for the special people in my life and the chance to enjoy the simple life.
