The #6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be heading into a hostile, wet and windy atmosphere tonight to battle the Clemson Tigers before a sold out crowd with the great possibility that the effects of Hurricane Joaquin could definitely have an impact on the game.  ESPN College GameDay was live in Clemson, South Carolina for the day and the game will be called by Chris Fowler and one of my favorite announcer’s, Kirk Herbstreit, tonight on ABC at 8:00 pm.  The last time the Fighting Irish played at Clemson was in 1977 when Joe Montana led Notre Dame to a victory and a National Championship by year’s end. Hard to imagine the last time these two teams met there was no such thing as ESPN, College GameDay, a national television audience for the game or a football playoff national championship.  Let’s hope this year Notre Dame achieves the same result in a much different world.
