Winter Light (Or Lack Of)

DSC_4074

The first month of 2016 is coming to an end and I hate to sound a little crabby like DSC_3933Lucy from the Peanuts comic strip, but this has been one cold, grey month with very little winter light except for the beautiful lighting at an Ice Festival featuring literary characters.  I tried to channel my inner IMG_1613Yoda (“Do or do not. . .there is no try”) and force my frozen feet across icy paths in search of a glimpse of nature’s light shining on majestic creatures, but the majestic creatures heard my feet stomping through the frozen snow and took cover.  In the midst of frozen fingers, numb cheeks and my husband and I almost falling on icy paths, there were brief moments of winter beauty.  The cardinals visited for several days this month, but unfortunately the DSCF0078deer are playing hard to get and just teasing us with their footprints.  The brutal cold has even invaded the movie theater this month.  After many long hours watching the very brutal, cold and depressing movie, The Revenant, and eight very hateful characters trapped in a blizzard in The Hateful Eight, my husband is banned from choosing another movie the remainder of the year.  I much prefer watching the adorable Minions DSC_3982and their wonderful winter scene of singing and dancing to “Make ‘Em Laugh.”  Hopefully, we will have some sunshine soon, but February is already looking brighter with Peyton Manning playing in Super Bowl 50 and Ian Rankin’s latest book, Even Dogs In The Wild, just arriving in the mail.

    1. Glad to hear from another fan of the Minions. I’m not entirely sure why, but the Minions seem to be a great source for laughter, enjoyment and music on a cold grey day.
