Turn Around

I love when I’m driving around alone and one of my favorite songs plays on the radio and I’m free to blast the music. Sometimes these songs fall in the category of my favorite performers (AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen and U2), other times its classic rock from the 70s and 80s and on occasion a classic disco hit. Then there are those songs that have always puzzled me as to how they ended up on the favorites list, but now after a year of standing behind birds singing, “turn around,” when I heard the song Total Eclipse From the Heart by Bonnie Tyler over the weekend, the song had new meaning.

Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit lonely

I love your bird photography. I saw an eagle recently. It is amazing how big they are compared to the song birds 🙂

An unusual pairing of music and photos (the ones that we might not otherwise share because we can’t see the face … we wait for them to “turn around” as you so nicely show.) It reminds me of the quote by Beverley Burdeyney: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storms to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” 🙂

  I love that quote and while I’m waiting for the birds to properly pose, sometimes in the rain, I have found myself splashing in the puddles and occasionally whistling and singing to the birds. That might be the reason so many of them refuse to turn around.

As a birdwatcher who is always waiting for the bird to turn around, I can so relate to this post, ACI. And turning up the radio really loud in the car, oh how I love that too…except I kept blowing out speakers! Fantastic photos, my friend, as always — especially love the bald eagle.

  Thank you for your comment and making me laugh about the speakers! The main reason for beginning this blog was to have a format to force me to spend more time on writing and photography and one of the many pleasant surprises during this time has been the enjoyment of birdwatching, even the days when all of them refuse to turn around. Writing continues to be a struggle, but thankfully nature, life, movies and music help with the words most days.

  Thank you for your great comment and forgiving me for this song choice. This might be one of those things that should have been left in the 80s, but every time I hear it, I find myself turning up the radio and listening to the whole song.

  Thank you very much! At this point, I definitely believe I have more photos of their backs and will keep searching for the right music to get them to turn around. I wonder if they are into heavy metal music like the wild squirrels?
