Up On The Roof

When this old world starts getting my down

And people are just too much for me to face

I climb way up to the top of the stairs

And all my cares just drift right into space

On the roof, it’s peaceful as can be

Up On The Roof – The Drifters

Made famous by Mr. James Taylor, one of my all time faves. I saw JT in Peoria, IL two summers ago and it was right up there with some of the best I have ever seen. Glad I went to see him. If you’ve not seen James Taylor he is well worth the price of admission.

    1. I have not had the chance to see James Taylor, but I’ve enjoyed his music over the years. I’ve always loved The Drifters version and had not realized the song was co-written by Carole King.

Wow! That song has history. Before Carole King became famous in her own right—wasn’t Tapestry a wonderful album?—she wrote lots and lots of songs. Most people, including me, I’m sure, have listened to many of King’s songs and haven’t realized it. Nice picture of the dove.

I’ve already heard the cooing of a dove and it is building a nest in our hedge – in FEBRUARY!

    1. How wonderful you will have a nest nearby!πŸ™‚ Today was a perfect spring day and I hope all the early birds around here are prepared for a brief return to winter.πŸ™‚

I love seeing the mourning dove up on the roof where “the air is fresh and sweet.” Great combo, ACI–

Is it a dove or a pigeon? Forgot the Drifters did this. Think I’d fall off my roof at the moment with all the sitting snowfall up there.

    1. It’s a dove and our roof is covered with snow again with more on its way.πŸ˜₯

I like to see the snow come (in Dec) but it’s nice to see it go. Surely there can’t be much more, it’s March now!
