Oh, gosh! Utterly fascinating. We generally don’t get this with our lakes in Maine. At least not that I’ve seen. Do you think you get those sheets of ice because of the size of the lake and the waves?
I love this! I don’t have a chance to get photos like this as there really isn’t a body of water close that would do this, not to mention access to the amazing view!

Thank you!🙂 I wish this happened on our smaller inland lakes, but it requires the waves and water movement found on our larger lakes.🙂

Our rivers produce a similar effect of shingled ice, especially in a really cold year.
