Young Wallander and Wallander (based on novels by Henning Mankell)
Great minds think alike! We, too, have been watching “Wallander” and “Young Wallander.” Oh, that Scandinavian angst. Also, I’ve been watching—all right, binging—“Somebody Somewhere” on HBO. It’s a Jay and Mark Duplass production, and not surprisingly the show has a definite indie vibe with lots of quirky characters. But it’s got a lot of heart as it deals with family and grief. And, fair warning, a lot of F-bombs. Doesn’t bother me, even though I’m old, but I know it bothers some people.
It’s funny that after years of reading all the Wallander books and how much I love the Kenneth Branagh Wallander series that I had a little bit of an attitude about the Young Wallander series when I first read about it, but then the attitude quickly went away before I finished the first episode. I just added Somebody Somewhere to my list last week after reading great reviews and after your comments (love quirky characters and F-bombs are not an issue), I’m now going to begin watching it tonight.🙂
