I’ve Been Pondering…

The art of doing nothing. Surprisingly, it takes a lot of work to get ready to do nothing. I’ve been making list after list trying to accomplish everything before June so I have plenty of time to do nothing all summer. Nobody in the family believes this will happen or that I’m capable of making it through a minute doing nothing as I’ve somehow mastered the art of doing something every second. I’m hoping with The Lost Art of Doing Nothing: How the Dutch Unwind with Niksen as a guide, that I’ll be able to take some time off from myself. Not sure if I’m off to a good start with this plan after buying a new t-shirt this week that says “Hang On. Let Me Overthink This.”

  2. Definitely an art to overthinking doing nothing – I intend to work on that over the coming weekend (more rain and a tough decision on avoiding the Everton score so I can “enjoy” watching it later…)
I hope your weekend is a good one, whatever you decide not to do!

    1. I think I’m still on schedule to do nothing in June and I’ve already made a schedule to start weaning myself away from to-do lists.😁 Luckily I will be distracted by our rain and cooler temps with the Spurs big match and wondering what in the world may happen in the next Maple Leafs game!! Enjoy the weekend!😁

  3. What a fun photo! And I’m intrigued by the book you’ve mentioned (checking it out as we speak on Amazon). Lastly, re: your new t-shirt: HA. I love it!!!

    1. Thank you!!😁 I knew when I had to buy that t-shirt that extra help was going to be needed and ordered the book for more guidance – I’m certainly going to need it!😁

  4. The “Hang on. Let me overthink this” t-shirt comment made me laugh! That will be a good post someday in itself 🙂 I am actually trying to do something similar but on a smaller scale soon – to take a week off work to just be home, read and work on blogging. Just those things and nothing else. Too many colleagues return to work needing vacations from their vacations so it’s time to be different. Here’s to healthy goals! Love the inspiring posts, as always.

    1. Thank you and I really should have bought two “Overthink This” t-shirts!!😁 I’m a believer in the simple life and enjoying the little things, but I’ve realized again how I’m still overthinking and constantly going from one thing to the next. It’s been a challenge working on minimalism and now the art of doing nothing and at least I’ll be able to laugh in my t-shirt as I panic the closer I get to my June deadline.😁

  5. In Scandinavia they’ve pretty much mastered doing nothing in July. I used to look after UK and Nordic countries for the company is used to work for and in July they pretty much shut up shop and all went on holiday for 3 – 4 weeks. I guess the dark winters makes them maximise the summers. I hope you achieve your goal.

    1. Between all my hard work toward the goal to declutter and then do nothing, my aching back told me this weekend to move up the June deadline to the present before I can’t walk again. The first day has been a success and it will be interesting to see what happens.🙂

  6. I can’t remember what it’s like doing nothing. It would be nice for a bit. Enjoy.
