I’ve Been Pondering…

The challenge of relaxing. It’s been another stressful week and you know you’re in trouble when peaceful nature scenes can’t relax you. We usually head to the nature trails for relaxation, but Harper made it quite clear she wasn’t being left home. Well, with a 5k event going on and bikes and rollerbladers wizzing by, we felt like we were in the middle of a traffic jam on the paths. It got so bad we took a detour through the woods and then had to ask for directions to make sure we were heading in the right direction. My niece has since told Harper that she no longer gets a vote over the walking plans. I took over the lawn mowing duties recently and was very surprised to find myself relaxing while zipping around the yard on the tractor and thought this could be a new relaxation technique. WELL, I don’t know if you’ve seen this story, but after discovering a hawk could drop a snake on my arm while on my lawn tractor and then have the snake try to attack me as the hawk is trying to get his snake back that has wrapped itself around my arm, I’m not leaving the house this weekend and thankfully I have a batch of new books, preseason football and the Premier League to keep me busy.

  1. I did hear the story about the snake and the hawk. ‘Tis the stuff of nightmares! New books and sports sound like just the thing.

    1. I have been known to drop lawn equipment and run when I see a snake and I don’t think I would have ever stopped running after something like that happening!!!🙂

  2. OMG, I hope I never have such an experience while doing my lawn! I can’t imagine it, what are the odds of such a thing happening? Maybe you ought to buy a lotto ticket, the gods owe you a win!

    1. OMG, I still can’t believe this could happen to someone!!! I can picture all the times I’ve acted ridiculous over bugs and snakes and can’t imagine how I would have survived this. I’m not complaining as much about my turkeys after this story.🙂

  3. There’s nothing like a walk in tranquil woods and then coming home to do some relaxing yard work… and then reading the best player is leaving your favourite team (did he sign for Everton?!)
After all that, the coming weekend is bound to be an improvement? Here’s hoping…
(And if they ever want to green light a Snakes on a Plane sequel, I think Samuel L. Jackson on lawn tractor would work…)

    1. Harper and I have been safely indoors today watching Manchester City win and currently watching the Detroit Lions. I told my niece I’m not going to laugh quite as hard when a red-winged blackbird dives into her hair, but instead of photographing hawks I will be screaming whenever I see one. Going to be a full schedule tomorrow between Bundesliga and Premier League, but I’ll have the time now that I’ve given up all outdoor activities. I’m a big Samuel L. Jackson fan, but I’ve never seen that movie and can’t now that I’ll be screaming whenever I see a snake. I still can’t believe that could happen to someone. Enjoy the weekend and hope I don’t jinx Everton cheering them on!🙂

    1. All the times I’ve worried about a hawk or eagle swooping down after Harper, I’ve never worried about them dropping a fish or squirrel on me, let alone a snake!🐾🙂

  7. A lawn tractor, blimey how big is your lawn?
A robin might drop a worm onto my arm while mowing our handkerchief sized bit of grass 😂 but it hasn’t happened yet.
