Chirpy Little Birds

We’re having a week of blue skies and warmer weather and while it was a very chilly start to the day on the trails, thankfully it began to warm up when all the chirpy little birds arrived. I never thought I would write this sentence, but somehow I’m currently choosing cellists over guitar players and sports. I’m enjoying the beginning of this classical music journey and one of the early discoveries is that I love the cello. The Apple Music and Apple Music Classical apps are fantastic, not only for the music but also for all the information. This week I’ve been listening to several classical playlists and my top three cellists of the first week – Yo-Yo Ma, Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Gautier CapuΓ§on. Now, while I should be sharing a new classical piece I’ve never heard before as my music of the day, I could not pass up sharing a combination of a new/old favorite (Gautier CapuΓ§on plays Over The Rainbow) in this beautiful video.

  2. I like 2CELLOS, but then I’m a rocker. I never got into classical music.

    1. OMG, thank you for recommending 2CELLOS!!!! I’ve been listening and watching the fabulous videos of this new favorite!!😁

      1. I thought they were both talented and humorous. One of them (Hauser) has videos of himself performing solo, doing more traditional cello music. Elton John even had 2CELLOS as part of his stage band at one point. He raves about them.

      2. I read a little bit about them and saw that about Elton John. I just added Hauser’s music to my library to check out and I’ll be sharing one of my favorite videos (so far) tomorrow.πŸ™‚

    1. I have so many wonderful things to learn and listen to that I’m going to have to walk around all day with my headphones on!! I immediately loved the cello and loved it even more after that fabulous video!πŸ™‚

  4. I, too, love cello. It frustrated my teen self endlessly, that my mom would pay for cello lessons for a brother who didn’t want them while denying me–who did want them!–the option. “You’re too old,” she said. “Your brother’s still in the optimal-learning range!”

I very much enjoyed this version of Over the Rainbow. πŸ™‚

    2. It’s never too late to learn. I started playing bass guitar at age 59. I’ve been playing and taking lessons for five years. I love it. I highly recommend playing an instrument if you have the desire.

  5. Wanting to listen to “simpler” music might be a reflection of how complicated things out there are becoming?

    1. It’s either the cello or the times, because I’ve listened to classical music over the years, but never fell in love with it before. The chirpy bird is a tufted titmouse and the other is a nuthatch.πŸ™‚

  6. I’ve been reliving Nigel Kennedy’s take on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, but maybe I’ll have a squint at Cellists and see what’s what. Love the chirpy birdies pic.

    1. I’ve added it to my library and while I thought I would be starting the weekend with the Bach Cello Suites, I need to listen to a little bit more of 2CELLOS and Hauser.😁
