  1. I took a typing class in high school on a typewriter, and I’m glad I did. If I hadn’t, my typing speed would be much slower.

    1. I had typing in middle school and for the life of me I can’t remember the elective choices at the time and wonder what I passed up for typing and band and how I ended up with the clarinet.😁

  2. I sure do remember taking a typing class on a real typewriter. A useful skill but I was a lousy typist and how I rejoiced when personal computers came out.

    1. I took typing in middle school on an electric typewriter and have always had a love of old typewriters. We have an independent bookstore that has a typewriter on display and they created a book, Notes from a Public Typewriter, from the messages left by people over the years.📖🙂

  3. Now that’s a YouTube channel worth exploring – I might never leave the house!
Left the house last week to visit the new exhibition at MNBAQ featuring dozens of Group of Seven paintings, and it was wonderful seeing the real paintings up close and in detail. Inspiring! We’ve booked camping trips near lakes this summer – won’t be painting, but will be sipping a beer by the lake!

    1. It was a great day of photography podcasts and videos and luckily they did not spill any beer on the gorgeous photography books!! Ok, now I’m wishing I took French over typing so I could read the MNBAQ website, but luckily I found Group of Seven information and images. When we go to the park in the summer we always have artists out painting, I can kinda see you and Mrs. Plaidcamper painting and drinking by the lake. Of course, Scout would have to be the first masterpiece.😁

  5. I’m raising my hand to this one…typing class and typewriters had their day back in the day. ✋

    1. I remember taking it as a middle school elective and I can’t remember the other choices, but I better not have passed up on a photography elective.😁

  6. Me! I took a typing class with my girlfriend at the local college. I failed the class. 😂

    1. It was a middle school elective for me and you must have been too busy typing love letters instead of working on your typing speed!!😁

      1. That is basically what happened! This was the early 80s and she is the one that got away. Still pining… 😞 Middle school, do you mean Junior High? 😂

      2. I’ve heard middle school so much over the years I forgot we called it Junior High.😁

      3. I’ve never heard a realistic reason for why the name was changed. My guess is that this has something to do with political correctness. I better be wrong!

      4. As far as I know they changed it when they switched from grades seven to nine to six through eight. Still laughing that I forgot to say Junior High.😁

  7. I definitely remember the loud sound of twenty or more students pounding out the home row drill!

    1. After years of our quiet keyboards, I had forgotten about how loud a room of typewriters sounded.😁

  8. Here, here… there were only one or two electric in the classroom, so we had to take turns using those. 🙂 I can still hear the teacher drilling with emphasis, “a, s, d, f … a, s, d, f…” 😀

    1. 😁We had electric in our classroom and my mom still has her old electric typewriter. White out was definitely a necessity back in the old days and I do recall making a mess with the ribbons. Still love the old fashioned thought of writing a novel on an old typewriter.😁

    1. 😁I may not have developed a love for typing in my typing class, but I’ve always loved old typewriters and can’t walk by one without taking a photo.🙂

  11. Yes, I remember these but not really fondly. I much prefer the ease of a computer’s keyboard!

    1. Definitely no comparison to a computer, but I always love seeing an old typewriter.🙂

  12. Ooh I do, I do…and weirdly enough the teacher was actually called Mrs Coffee. We were allowed to bring hot drinks to make and drink in class which made us 15 year old feel a bit more grown up. I started drinking my coffee black as it was too much hassle to take a bit of milk into school.

    1. LOVE the coffee and typing class story!!!😁 I’m always amazed I barely remember any teacher’s names except my favorites, but I would definitely have remembered a Mrs. Coffee!☕️😁

      1. She had an 80’s blonde bob. I didn’t learn to type very well but I do remember making an idiot of myself in front of a lad I fancied by trying to spoof a Wham song which I totally messed up.

    1. I just remembered that the typing class was actually more fun than those first classes that required typewritten reports and the nightmare of correcting mistakes.😁

  14. I did typing at school when I was 14 in 1986 and it was on an electric typewriter by then. So does that make me one of your young readers 😂
