iPhone Journey Update

I’ve been on my iPhone Journey for six months and have discovered it has taken me in many unexpected directions. My morning coffee somehow took on a very very important part of my day and while I love trying new seasonal lattes, so far the winning coffee is a freshly ground home brewed cup from the Mexico Cristal region. Walking and steps are now as important as finding a photo and there is no doubt in my mind that my back and neck improved changing my photography habits. There is still a question if my back agrees with or is happy about the 10,000 daily steps goal, but it’s a goal I enjoy pursuing. The Nikon will be coming out of the bag occasionally during the wonderful spring birding season, but after looking into the cost of buying a lighter camera and wondering if it would make a difference, I’ve decided I will continue to search for new iPhone photography styles.

Shot of the Day (Edited in Snapseed): Central School (A.D. 1893) – Richardsonian Romanesque building listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the oldest surviving school in Pontiac, Michigan.

  1. I use Olympus / OM, great compact and light system.
Before that a Sony RX100. Lovely small RAW camera with a fixed zoom, but a little fiddly due to its small size.
I also use my phone a lot because it’s always with me! πŸ˜€

  3. Such a great photo! Pontiac is my old stomping grounds, the downtown and entire area. Memories! I have wondered why I still have the Nikon Z5 with the 200mm lens since the iPhone 15 does such a fantastic job.

Just one thing – the camera begins to pixelate terribly when zooming out too far, but taking regular close-in photos, the camera does an an excellent job. Sooner or later, these phone cameras will catch up to the big-body cameras.

I understand your issue with the weight of the larger cameras since I have three herniated lower lumbar.

  5. What a building! Different style, but it reminded me of the first school I taught at back in the UK, not as old, 1915.
Can’t remember the last time I took a photo with a camera and not my phone. Keep thinking I must dig out the camera…
Enjoy your weekend – hope the sun shines and the Easter bunny visits!

    1. Thank you!!πŸ™‚ I love looking at photos from other photographers and one of my favorite styles is European architecture in black and white. That would be my dream photography style and I would be willing to walk around in pain for those shots. I do miss my bird photography and know at some point I’ll have to invest in a new camera. Enjoy the weekend and hopefully an Easter basket filled with beer and chocolate!😎

  6. I bit on the bullet and bought a new lighter bird camera. It is not as good as the old heavy one but i can carry about easily so I am happy with it.

    1. Looking forward to photographing the new spring bird families and while I’m hoping after a six month break that maybe my current camera won’t cause the same problems, I’m pretty sure I’ll be looking for a lighter camera at some point.πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you!!πŸ™‚ The last two months has been the best I’ve felt in awhile and even though I definitely miss my bird photography, I’m still hoping to find new photography styles that are just as much fun and pain free.πŸ™‚
