Thankful Thursday

Now here is an item I had no idea would show up on my simplistic gratitude journey, but I am very thankful for this collection of floral folding hand fans. By the end of summer, I am very tired of the sounds of fans and being hot and these are absolutely wonderful for when you find yourself in the middle of a heatwave, power outage, hot flash, watching your favorite team lose or political ads from the opponent. They can also be helpful when some fact blows your mind like discovering one of the reasons we’ve had this tropical humidity in the Midwest is due to β€œcorn sweat.” A single acre of corn can give off 4,000 gallons of water a day making it feel more humid. In a week with β€œcorn sweat,” two power outages during the heatwave and a few of my favorite college football teams beginning their season this weekend, I am extremely grateful for these folding fans and think I should place another order to help get me through the football season and election.

    1. I had never heard of corn sweat until this week and while it’s throughout the Midwest it’s the worst in Nebraska and Iowa. Based on the number of corn mazes my niece has tried to talk into, I’m assuming it definitely has an affect in our area.😁

  3. Sometimes ‘old school’ is the best. πŸ™‚ I have a small collection of hand fans, a really effective one is made of woven vetiver root, which you moisten and as you fan, the water evaporates and cools the air… vetiver also has a sweet grass scent. πŸ‘πŸΌ

    1. Thanks for the information, that sounds better than the wild tie dye fans I wanted to buy before I discovered they are for a rave.😁
