Spring Days And Good Books

Book of the Day: The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad

Podcast of the Day: Poured Over: The B&N Podcast – Suleika Jaouad on The Book of Alchemy

Quote of the Day (NY Times): Suleika Jaouad, the memoirist and author of a best seller, “The Book of Alchemy,” was diagnosed with leukemia in her 20s. Last summer, she had a recurrence, and the advice a lot of people offered was to live each day like it was her last. But every time she heard that sentence, she felt an “intense sense of panic,” Ms. Jaouad said. Instead, she explained, she has shifted “to a different mind-set, which is the idea of living every day as if it’s your first — to wake up with a sense of curiosity and wonder and playfulness.” Why “live every day like it’s your last” is terrible advice – Suleika Jaouad

    1. I read her book, Between Two Kingdoms, when it was released in 2021 and I read it again after my diagnosis. Love this advice and both books! I’ve started writing in my journal again after reading The Book of Alchemy.🙂

  5. I read that! It was from an interview I believe. She went on for a bit about it. Cool stuff.
