Monday Musings…On A Tuesday

I’ve been trying to figure out what I can blame for my lack of motivation during these dog days of summer and I’m still searching for answers.

Could it be the very depressing state of what is happening in our country? The fact that I’ve been watching South Park for the first time might answer that question.

Or can I also blame a lack of ice cream because the cones usually melt on my shirt or Harper’s head.

Then again, maybe it’s not enough real bird photography or

trying to switch to street photography.

All I do know is that my plans of biking, photography, miniature golf and kayaking went out the window last month when nerve pain in my shoulder and arm occurred from a pinched nerve in my neck. Paddleboarding has never been in my thoughts since I only imagine myself falling off the paddleboard, but I liked the clouds in this photo.

Other than too many doctor appointments, I think I’ve had the laziest summer of my life and am starting to embrace and not question the lack of motivation. Good books, movies and tv shows have made a hot and humid summer go by very fast and along with those, the number one priority of finding a great hot coffee.

  1. Great photos! The world is very sad at the moment and I think it does affect all our moods.

    1. Thank you and you’re right, the world is very sad at the moment and it can be very exhausting to think about it.

  2. A lazy summer sounds exactly right. Especially when it’s been hotter than heck.

    1. Humid and 90 degrees again today and I’m hiding indoors enjoying the Alien franchise before the new show Alien: Earth begins tonight.🙂

      1. We’ve been hiding indoors, too, only going out when the sun is well down. We watched the first episode of Alien:Earth, and we all thought it showed promise. We are big fans of the creator Noah Hawley.

  3. Good books, coffee and movies has been the way to go for us this summer and we’ve mostly enjoyed it. Definitely read far less news – I refuse to give the narcissist the attention he so desperately craves. He’s clearly very unwell…
I wouldn’t mind falling off a paddle board again sometime. It’s quite stable if you behave, and not too tiring so long as it isn’t windy. Maybe you’ll be in the kayak again soon enough? Hang in there!

    1. Thank you and I’m hoping for some beautiful fall like mornings for kayaking!🙂 Plenty of books to read before football season and my niece has me watching the Alien movie franchise before the beginning of Alien:Earth tonight. More movies she can’t believe I haven’t watched and the first one was better than I expected. Some of these old movies have been great, but I still can’t talk her into watching any of my old favorites.🙂

      1. All the Alien movies are new to you? What a treat! I love those movies, even the bad ones (goodness, there are one or two duff ones…) and I’ll never forget watching Allen for the first time. I was far too young and impressionable and it scared the cr*p out of me but has been an absolute favourite ever since. Second movie has the best dialogue though. They mostly come out at night. Mostly.
        Enjoy!

      2. All the movies are new to me and so far the Alien marathon is going great!! I always find the original the best and was surprised the 1979 movie was that good and had so many actors I liked. The last hour of the second movie almost moved it into first place and between my jumping and another thunderstorm, Harper was not happy. I have no idea why I skipped this franchise, but I think I might have doubted Sigourney Weaver defeating Aliens and I was definitely wrong about that, she’s great taking on all the doubting men, Aliens and me!!🙂

  6. Could it be the very depressing state of what is happening in our country? In your country and mine and all over the world! That is certainly knocking me back. Rays of light are very hard to find. Pinched nerves don’t help though.

    1. It is very depressing to see what is going on around the world and there are so many daily tragedies changing peoples lives forever. This pinched nerve has lasted longer than I planned, but thankfully the nerve pain lets up when I sit for awhile after doing too much.🙂
