Even in the Midst of Dark Clouds, Always Hope for a Silver Lining

DSC_2971

The first glimpse through the blinds toward the darkened early morning sky offers no clue as to what the universe has planned for the day.  Will the world greet us with threatening dark clouds that give way to a torrential downpour that drenches the spirit or clouds that transform the morning into an amazing sky that enhances everything and makes the world glow.  The first awakened moments of the day often foreshadow the openness of the spirit to enjoy the day.   Lost souls may lay in bed with a desire to hide under the covers for the day from the unrelenting confusion, fear and pain clouding their thoughts, darkening their spirit and leaving them feeling trapped under a sky that never seems to change.  Another tired soul determined to get through a day of problems and worry, may look to the sky dreaming of a magical fluffy cloud that they could rest their weary body on and float away from the everyday problems of life.   A photographer may greet the morning with anticipation, quickly reaching for the camera bag and rushing out the door with a quick glance to the morning sky hoping for clouds that will slowly release hidden wonders of color, beauty and emotion that leave an imprint on the photographer’s soul while capturing the morning miracle unfolding.  An introvert walking the streets and enjoying the solitude of the empty marina, deserted beach and finding a lone bench to rest, may look with gratitude toward the clouds offering their first glimpse of light with a spirit that has been renewed by the realization that stormy, brooding clouds can be transformed quickly into a colorful spirit cherishing all the simple joys of life waiting to be discovered while singing in the rain or smiling at the sun.  Hopefully, all of us in the midst of the first dark clouds of the day, will always look inward to the dreamer within us all and take a moment to dispel the clouds by remembering those carefree moments of youth lying on the grass looking at the clouds and daydreaming about life or any special time that allows for a chance to find an empty beach chair and sit with our toes curled in the sand reminding ourselves every cloud has a silver lining.

  1. I was enjoying reading this on the brief train part of my commute to work this morning, but the photographs wouldn’t load on my phone. So happy I revisited, the photographs (and the writing) are beautiful!

    1. Thank you. My head was in the clouds earlier today and I was reminded by your post, Snow Day! A hint of winter already?, that I missed my first winter photos of the season when some parts of northern Michigan received six inches of snow a day after I took these pictures. Always enjoy the wonderful photos, humor and stories on your blog.
