Slowly walking through the woods, the sound of crunching snow under my footsteps begins to fade away as the soundtrack of nature catches my attention.  The crows cawing in the distance, the downy woodpecker tapping away, twigs snapping as squirrels chase one another, birds greeting the day and a DSC_4437proud cardinal singing a loud song.  Usually when attempting to photograph cardinals I only have a brief moment before they fly away, but in this instance the cardinal was so lost in his beautiful song that I was able to listen and watch while he serenaded his audience.  There is a magic in the silence, sounds and images of nature and sometimes simple encounters with nature remind you of the soundtrack to your life and take you back to a special time, place, or memory.
