I’m Ready For Some Football, But It Will Never Be The Same

It has been an adjustment since being firmly planted in middle age to refer to many things in terms of something that happened twenty or thirty years ago and wonder some days where the time has went.  As the 2016 NFL preseason begins tonight with the Hall of Fame Game between the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts, it is with sadness that I say that it has been over thirty years (going forward, I firmly refuse to ever say over forty years) since a football season began without having a favorite quarterback to watch while wearing one of their jerseys.  Last night I watched while my all-time favorite, Brett Favre, was inducted into the Hall of Fame and my second all-time favorite, Peyton Manning, sat in the audience as a retired football player.  I’m thankful for all the great years watching these two play and am always ready for some football, but this year something very special will be missing.

  1. Go Pack! Loved Favre, not a Manning Fan at all though. Peyton that is, love Eli. However, I’m a Packet 3 fan through and through so Rodgers it is 😀

    1. Whatever team Brett and Peyton were playing for became my favorite, but now that Peyton’s retired, the Packers and Rodgers are back at the top. My back-up quarterbacks are Romo, Eli and Luck.
