Autumn Movies

As we pedal our way through autumn and hear reports of the first snowfall dusting the trees further north, it’s time to think about an autumn movie day.  The autumn movie checklist includes a cup of coffee with a splash of Baileys, a cozy blanket, logs in the fireplace and a few fall favorites.  There appears to be a romance theme among many of my favorites, so for autumn romance and football we need Silver Linings Playbook and Invincible, for fall colors and romance we need Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal walking through Central Park in When Harry Met Sally and Tom Hank’s telling Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail, “Don’t you love New York in fall?  It makes me want to buy school supplies.  I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.”  The thought of apples and school supplies requires a visit to a college campus with the addition of Liberal Arts and Good Will Hunting, which has the wonderful college bar scene that ends with “well, I got her phone number, how do you like them apples.”  The movie marathon list is expanding by the minute and I hope there is enough time to watch Rudy before the Notre Dame/Pittsburgh football game.
