iPhone Journey – Day 9

Began the day by saying thank you, thank you to the rainy skies because it meant no yard work or walks. Needed a rest day and thought I would share a brief story. Over the years I have sought many relaxing techniques during stressful times and after a very stressful summer due to my motherโ€™s health (sheโ€™s still improving daily), Iโ€™ve added another one. The small bush in the photo use to be about 12 feet by 5 feet until I got ahold of it and the other three next to it with my heavy-duty loppers. I take care of my motherโ€™s house along with mine and unlike at home where my husband tries to stop me before I chop down trees, my mother was cheering me on and my brother lives too far away to arrive in time to stop me. One of those projects that contributed to the neck and back pain, but helped with the stress and boy did I feel exhaustingly good when it was over.

  1. Chop chop! You are dangerous with pruning tools! ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I chopped up two more bushes since then and the rest better watch out once my arm isnโ€™t sore.๐Ÿ˜

      1. I pruned the sprouts off of my Mediterranean Fan Palm this afternoon, it grows much faster during the hot summer months. Heal that arm!

  2. Loved the gardening story! I can reduce a garden, and I can ignore a garden – itโ€™s the important bit in between I struggle with, the enjoyment in working to develop and maintain a gardenโ€ฆ
Meant to say for your coffee choice yesterday, pretty good and I found myself in a Timโ€™s, but we had the dark roast (and maybe a maple donut!)
Hope your neck and your mothers health continue to improve!

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿ˜ Iโ€™ve been very busy decluttering our houses over the last year and decided it was time to declutter the yard too!! Came home today and a portion of a fence is leaning over, I think I may need a chainsaw or sledgehammer for that project.๐Ÿ˜ Every decade I try to appreciate a Humphrey Bogart movie and it never works, I have 26 hours left on The Treasure of the Sierra Madre rental and might have to try again in my sixties.๐Ÿ˜

    1. Thatโ€™s what my brother said and I told him he better take the loppers home before the Rose of Sharon bushes disappear.๐Ÿ˜

  5. Good story. Personally, I find trimming hedges so satisfying.
P.S. For me it’s pumpkin coffee from now through T-Day. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Nowt like a bit, or a lot, of pruning to make a person feel better. My rose bush could do with an extra pair of hands (and paws) if you and Harper are up for it, and fancy a quick trip across the pond.

    1. I got carried away with the loppers and another bush the other day and my sore arm has to heal before I can come over.๐Ÿ˜

      1. ๐Ÿ˜‚ easy to get carried away. I usually get very scratched up or covered in splinters.
