We Might Have A Noise Phobia Solution For Harper

I want to thank everyone for the suggestions after last weekโ€™s blog about our sleepless nights due to Harperโ€™s anxiety issues over noises. I was hoping leaving the tv and music on would help, but when that failed I researched the Color Noise Sound Machine suggestion and immediately ordered one. I had no idea prior to the research that pink, white and brown noise could help dog anxiety and once I heard the sounds I told Harper letโ€™s hope a soft fan sound helps because those sounds will give me anxiety. Thereโ€™s actually 25 sounds and god help us if I select the rain or train sounds by mistake. The first night Harper was awake by 2:30am, but the shaking was greatly reduced. I canโ€™t tell you how thrilled I was that she made it to 5:00am the next night with no shaking. Sheโ€™s still acting panicky when she wakes up, but Iโ€™m hoping that will also begin to improve. Iโ€™ve tried to tell her sheโ€™s the only one creeping around the house at night, but after listening to all the nighttime noises Iโ€™m really glad we have a new color noise sound machine. Luckily a good portion of the exhaustion lifted prior to the College Football Playoff National Championship and the great win by the Michigan Wolverines against the Washington Huskies.

    1. Itโ€™s horrible when sheโ€™s shaking and Iโ€™m thrilled it helped with that! I have an appointment with her vet just to make sure everything is ok with her health and if he has any ideas.๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Win, win! Both for the Wolverines and for your family. Has Harper always been like this? Or has it recently gotten worse? If so, I wonder what the reason could be. Anyway, glad there was a solution.

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™‚ Sheโ€™s always had a sensitivity to noise and shakes through thunderstorms and fireworks, but this is the first time she has done this and it began after the New Yearโ€™s Eve fireworks.๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank god Harper is improving or I would have slept through the whole game. Still trying to understand why sheโ€™s happily playing right now in the same room that she will decide at 3:00am she needs to escape from.๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you!๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™‚ Even though sheโ€™s always been sensitive to loud noises like thunderstorms and fireworks this has never happened before. It started after the New Yearโ€™s Eve fireworks and unfortunately she wonโ€™t tell me the reason behind this reaction.๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I see, that’s a bummer for her. I have heard of tranquilisers for dogs… Maybe that will help Harper?
