This week I’m thankful for March Madness and that is not the arrival of spring, but my all-time favorite sporting event since the late 1970s, the NCAA Men’s Basketball March Madness Tournament. Beginning today I’ll be watching the Conference Championships through the weekend, then Selection Sunday when the 68-teams are selected and then watching nonstop basketball when the tournament begins next week. Now I just have to make sure Benny doesn’t wave that Top Dog at Harper, but shares his little basketball. I’m also very grateful for the great health news I’ve received over the week. My PET scan was normal, after weeks of lumbar chemo treatments my brain fluid did not contain any abnormal cells and I only need it once a week, I may not have to have a stem cell transplant and my new chemo has been reduced from six months to three months. I’ve started the new chemo and saying prayers and keeping fingers crossed that the side effects are not severe. One might have thought I would have led with the great health news, but I think I was experiencing a moment of March Madness when I changed chemo dates because I didn’t want to miss the first day of the March Madness tournament.
