It’s A New Day

After nine months of Harper and Benny working on their relationship, that at times appeared impossible, we have a new day and a new attitude. The only problem with this new closeness is that Harper will try to nip his ears if he dares to reach for the bone she stole from him or look at her the wrong way, but thankfully Benny thinks that’s charming at this point. I began a new chemo drug in March and again experienced side effects that has delayed my next round of chemo over the last few weeks. During the last week I’ve finally started feeling better and it’s weird on the good days to realize how awful you actually felt on the bad days. So the dogs and I will be celebrating a new day and attitude all weekend as we take advantage of feeling better before more chemo and days spent with good friends.

  1. A bright day with those we love helps us step into the uncertainty of tomorrow.

With those we love beside us, tomorrow is always brighter.

I’m sending you a big Irish hug πŸ€—β˜˜οΈ

    1. They’ve been with me every step of the way and it does make the hope and days brighter. Harper is fighting me for the hug, you might have to send an extra one!!πŸΎπŸ™‚

  2. It’s not easy way you are on. Sorry for your suffering, but, unfortunately, nothing more effective have been created to fight this monster.
Long time ago I was looking for any available treatment for my mother, and doctor said, if anyone create medicine for hundred percent healing, the golden statue of that person will be erected. We are waiting with hope.
    Stay strong and take care.

    1. Thank you!!πŸ™‚ I’ve watched family members fight cancer for years and know how important it is to have hope and faith in our doctors. They plan on adjusting my next chemo treatment and I’m hoping that will reduce the side effects. I’m thankful for these days that I feel better and for all the encouragement that helps me through the bad days.πŸ™‚

  3. This is all very positive – here’s to enjoying the weekend, with Leafs marching on, Everton securing mathematical safety and canine companions behaving!

    1. Thank you!!πŸ™‚ Benny ignored Harper for a few minutes today and she made it clear that was not going to work in their relationship and they actually played together. Ottawa came out strong in tonight’s game and the Leafs better not let up like the Capitals! Enjoy the weekend and I’m glad you could relax while watching Everton this morning!πŸ™‚

      2. Other than Harper nipping his ears a few times when he wasn’t playing according to her rules, they did great together!🐾😁

  5. Little Harper has been queen for quite a while, so I expect it has been difficult for her to adjust to Benny. Sound like things are improving, though. Very sorry that the chemo is hitting you so hard. Damned cancer! Yes, enjoy every day that you feel better. Fingers, toes, and everything else crossed that the new round of chemo doesn’t affect you so badly. Hugs from Maine!

    1. Thank you!!πŸ™‚ It was another good day today and it has been wonderful to feel better! They are adjusting the chemo for the next treatment, so I’m hoping the side effects won’t be as bad. Benny is winning her over, he ignored her for five minutes today and she demanded he play with her.πŸΎπŸ™‚

  9. Glad to hear things are improving, I kind of sensed that you were having a tough go of it. A Golden is a good match for a moody Yorkie, ha. A very gentle and good natured breed, thanks, Benny. πŸ˜‰

    1. Thank you!!πŸΎπŸ™‚ Benny is a wonderful dog and you should have seen how fast the moody Yorkie made him play with her this morning after he ignored her for a few minutes. I had another good day today and they are adjusting the next chemo treatment and hopefully the side effects will not be as bad. I’m hoping to take Harper for a walk in the morning in search of tulips.πŸΎπŸ™‚

      1. Taken at a sensible speed, cycling is a very non stressful way of getting about and lets you get farther afield than walking does. It suits me.
