Monday Musings…On A Tuesday

Between my health and listening to podcasts, I’ve certainly lost the notion of a straight path forward. I was taken off my medication for the weekend because my blood counts went lower and surprisingly felt worse for two days compared to being on the medication. Thankfully by Monday I was feeling better and was able to enjoy a great walk and coffee with my niece and the dogs. Benny and Harper are still adjusting to each other’s personalities on the sidewalks, but we’re making progress. Hopefully there will be an improvement on today’s blood test and I can go back to the original treatment plan. Even though a few of my football teams lost over the weekend, it was still a great start to the college football season and we’ve just had our last Sunday without NFL games until 2026. It’s a year ago this month that I first began wondering if something was wrong with my health and as it’s Blood Cancer Awareness Month, one thing I’ve definitely learned over the last year is to go to the doctor if you’re noticing changes in your health and never question getting a second or third opinion.

Podcasts of the Weekend: The Jim Acosta Show (“Dictator Trump” with Molly Jong-Fast and Rick Wilson); Pivot (Kara Swisher with guest co-host Governor Gavin Newsom); The Bulwark Podcast with Tim Miller (Tom Nichols: America’s Problem Child); On with Kara Swisher – Labor Day Special from our friends at Hacks on Tap (David Axelrod, John Heilemann , Rahm Emanuel).

Coffee of the Day: Proving Grounds Coffee White Pumpkin Latte

TV Holiday Marathons: FBI and Everybody Loves Raymond

  1. What a long year it has been for you! And what good advice about going to the doctor’s and getting a second opinion. I so hope your body tolerates the medication.

I listened to all those podcasts, and was especially fascinated by the conversation with David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel.

    1. Thank you!🙂 They put me on a lower dose of the medicine today and I’m really hoping we can make this work. The discussions on the podcasts have been fantastic and I wish I had turned to them sooner than what I’ve been watching on the news.

      1. Best, best, best!

I love listening to podcast discussions. Get so much out of them. More depth than television news.

    1. Thank you!!🙂 The blood count numbers didn’t improve, but I am back on a lower dose of the medicine and an antibiotic to hopefully prevent any infections. Hoping this keeps me on the medicine and we can build back to the full dosage.🙂

  4. It’s never straightforward, that’s for sure (whatever the topic) – happy to read you’re feeling a little better.
Enjoy the week – it’s very fall-like early in the mornings now, although the days are still hot!

    1. Thank you!🙂 We’ve had great weather that looks like it’s going to continue for awhile and my pumpkin spice lattes help me ignore the few warm days.☕️🙂

      1. Currently sitting under a tree in Merritt BC, almost 5pm and it is 36C – upper 90s in F? – (the campground store selling ice cream still isn’t open and even for us it’s not quite beer o’clock…invisible camping problems for sure, but c’mon, it’s warm out here!)

      2. A curious mind had to look up Merritt and discovered it is the “country music capital of Canada” so that definitely means it’s beer o’clock time and I’m sure you’re wearing your favorite cowboy hat to help with the sun!🍻😁

    1. That’s very important and to also have doctors you trust that are willing to listen and run the necessary tests.
