Monday Musings…On A Saturday

It’s been such an exhausting week that I almost forgot it began with snow. I was diagnosed with cancer one year ago today and spent this last week going through the process of getting all the tests and paperwork done for the next line of treatment now that the cancer has returned. Over the last two months there was lost hope, rebellious hope and a strong drive to find another treatment option once tests indicated the cancer recurrence. There was a span over 44 days that between Harper and me we had 37 appointments. Full days of doctoring over the last week left me with an exhaustion I was not expecting and made me think this is what running a marathon must feel like. Unfortunately, my complicated and aggressive lymphoma is kicking into high gear again and we have to hope they can keep it under control until I receive my treatment in mid December. It was my 11 year blogging anniversary this week and I wanted to thank all of you for the enjoyment over the years and that your support and prayers have helped tremendously this year. Please continue to send any positive vibes, prayers or fairy dust out into the universe as I continue to be grateful for each day and fight for another year.

  1. Tough news, I am sorry that the cancer is not going back to its lair as we hoped. This is one tough battle and I’m impressed with your determination to kick its butt. 😉 You are in my thoughts every day, esp. when there is no post and I know you are engaged in the battle of survival. Sending you strength and hope as always. 🙏🏼 💕

    1. Thank you and your support, kindness and prayers have helped me tremendously over this last year along with sharing our worlds!🙂 I’m thrilled my new doctor and team were able to coordinate everything this week so I can hopefully get the treatment as soon as possible. This is specialized treatment and I had to say goodbye for now yesterday to the oncologist that made sure I survived this year. I don’t think I’ve ever been as exhausted as the last three days, but after a day of dozing through all my favorite football games I feel a little better tonight. I will be in the hospital for a week if all goes well with the treatment and I should get some strength back this week with only one procedure.🙂

  2. Dear Father in Heaven,
Thank You for the blessings and strength You have given me. Today I lift up someone dear who is suffering with cancer. Please bless them with healing and courage. If it is within Your will, take this disease from them and restore their body. Help them grow stronger each day and continue their work here on Earth. I offer this prayer in humility and hope. Amen. 🙏

May light and strength surround you in every moment.

  4. You are fighting such a courageous battle; I can’t imagine the levels of exhaustion you must be dealing with. Hold on to that rebellious hope and celebrating the daily joys, however small. Every day brings you closer to that mid-December date and the new treatment.

Eleven years blogging is an achievement in itself. Congratulations! I have loved your keen eye and your quirky take on the world ever since I discovered your blog. And of course, Harper and Benji! Sending love, strength and fairy dust from across the ocean ✨✨✨💖✨✨✨

    1. Thank you!!🙂 I have never been this exhausted, but thankfully after a day of doing nothing and dozing through my football games I feel a little better tonight. I’m definitely holding on to that rebellious hope and already think the fairy dust from across the ocean has a special magic for me. 8. I can understand your exhaustion, and admire your ongoing resilience and good humour as you continue to wrestle with the cancer. As always, sending positive thoughts, vibes, good music, books and bad movies to keep your spirits up. On bad movies, at least in terms of outdated attitudes, the rerelease of “Night of the Juggler” is something to see. A real museum piece, a movie full of old school NY sleaze. Yup, I enjoyed it, sort of!
Eleven years blogging? I’m somewhere near that myself – we’re (not so) wise old hands at this…

    1. Thank you and these eleven years have gone by too fast!!🙂 I’m behind on all my shows, movies and books, but hopefully after dozing through my college football games today I might have some energy to catch up on some stuff tomorrow. Thank you for the positive vibes and thoughts and I still believe laughter is a great medicine and refuse to lose my sense of humor.🙂

    1. Thank you!!🙂 I had been hoping I would make it to the new year and enjoy the holidays before the cancer returned and even if it doesn’t really mean anything compared to all the big things going on, I can’t believe I’m right back to where I was a year ago. I believe in the power of positive vibes, prayers and fairy dust and how much they help each day and want to thank you again for all your kindness and support!🙂

    1. Thank you!!🙂 We’ve always known the cancer would return, but we were hopeful the last medication would give us more time before a cancer recurrence. I have a new doctor and team because of the specialized treatment I will be receiving and they were amazing over the last two weeks. Time to go back to one day at a time and thankfully I’m keeping that rebellious hope and faith in my doctors.🙂

  14. You were in my prayers once I recently returned to WordPress and learned of these medical issues, and you remain in them now. I have an uncle who is on a cancer journey as well, and he remains cancer-free now after a period where there was real uncertainty. Wishing for this next treatment to be a winning one!
