A Very Tired Moon Child

Not a great title, but after four days in the hospital this moon child was exhausted staring up at the moon when I took Harper outdoors after we celebrated I was back home. My ten year blogging anniversary was last week and after sharing my little world over the years with blogging friends I thought I would share this next phase of my life. Thankfully I changed doctors the day before I went into the hospital and had exceptional care while they tried to figure out what was going on. I had three medical specialist groups with wonderful nurse practitioners, interns and doctors monitoring everything and very kind, funny and excellent nurses. At this point, the mono diagnosis was wrong, my kidney had stopped functioning and required a stent and I have an appointment with an oncologist next week to confirm a B-cell lymphoma diagnosis and treatment plan. It was a very scary and painful few days, but thankfully the pain is gone and they indicated I have a type that is easier to treat and slow growing. I’m more exhausted than I’ve probably ever been in my life and am hoping to get some strength back this week. I got a little boost of energy when my Buffalo Bills defeated the Kansas City Chiefs last night. I’ll be back to reading blogs this week and may have a photo to share occasionally.

    1. Thank you and the hugs and healing thoughts are very appreciated and needed!! I was very lucky to have such great care and an appointment this week so I don’t have to wait and wonder too long. Still feel lousy and I never understand why it is when I’m sick that I can’t read or watch anything new, I’m stuck on old favorite reruns.πŸ™‚

      1. I think it’s because you already know what’s going to happen and don’t have too hard to figure things out. You can zone in and zone out and not feel confused. Anyway, whatever brings you comfort is what you should watch. So hope you feel better soon.

    1. Everything that happened last week was a shock and thank you for the love and hugs as they are very needed on a day I feel lousy and want to cry. The medical care was so outstanding that thankfully it helped keep me calm while everything was happening in the hospital. My appointment was moved up and it will help to have an idea of what’s ahead.πŸ™‚

  3. I imagine the silver lining is you have a diagnosis and clear path forward after what must have been a frightening period of time.
Delighted to read you’re getting excellent care – sending positive thoughts and very best wishes (I don’t follow the football, but I’ll adopt the Bills, to see if your team is delivering!)
    Take care,

    1. I am very thankful for your positive thoughts on a day where I wonder when I’ll ever feel good again!! The medical care was so outstanding in the hospital that for a moment I thought I was dreaming and in a new medical drama on tv (could have been the drugs) where the best of the best can solve anything. I was so lucky to switch doctors and will be forever grateful for how things were handled in the hospital. It’s strange how quickly your world changes in there and even in the middle of all the pain and unknown I could laugh with two student nurses who were very excited to watch there first bone marrow test on me. My appointment was moved up this week and it will help to know what’s going to happen next. Josh Allen is my favorite quarterback and you should YouTube his fabulous final touchdown yesterday and order his Buffalo Bills jersey to cheer me up now that you’re a fan.πŸ™‚

      1. You are very welcome, I have been in the hospital three times since I’ve been here and have never had rotten doctors, but this last time there was one that had the bedside manor of a park bench. Gladly he went away…

    1. Thank you and I appreciate your kindness and support!! I still keep hoping I’m going to wake up and have a little energy, but I don’t think that is coming back for awhile. I can’t tell you how relieved I am to have my new doctors and as bad as everything was last week in the hospital with how I felt, it made such a difference to have such great doctors and medical staff. The kindness, care and being updated daily on what was going on amidst all the scary stuff helped tremendously.πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much for the prayers and kind words!! I do feel blessed that I changed doctors just in time and that I had such outstanding care and doctoring in the hospital. I had so many people checking on things and keeping me informed between tests, procedures and surgery that I didn’t have time to panic while in the hospital.πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you!! I kept hoping someone was going to come into my hospital room and say we checked and it’s only mono, but thankfully with the great medical care the pain finally was gone with the stent and I have faith in my new team of doctors and that helps tremendously.πŸ™‚

  11. Wow. It’s a shame some doctors are better than others. I’m so glad you’ve now found a good one(s). (Odd though, I thought there was a test for mono.) Best news I would guess would be learning for sure why you feel the way you’ve felt, and knowing that you’ve got a road to recovery. My thoughts have been and will continue to be with you. (Selfishly, I hope to see semi-regular posts from you. I only follow three bloggers who post regularly…just sayin’!!!)

    1. Thank you and I’m still so relieved and amazed over the medical care I’ve received the last two week! My treatment begins in December and I’m hoping I’m one of the lucky ones that tolerates the treatment well. I’ve avoided medications as much as possible because of side effects and am nervous about the first treatment. You will be seeing more posts and I’ll be catching up on yours soon!!πŸ™‚

  13. I’d like to add my wife went through breast cancer 25 years ago. She said afterward that treating life as usual really helped her through it. We had movies-and-a-dinner on Mondays (I worked Tues to Fri at the time), went to church and choir was much as possible, and I just treated her as normal. FWIW. Oh, and she also continues to say to anyone facing cancer, “don’t let anyone tell you what it will be like. Yours is yours, and not necessarily like theirs.”
